Ok had a nice farewell party and I guess my filter on my M8 is only a UV one and not also the IR one. So many people's black linen and other fabrics came out some nice purple hues.

Is there a fast fix it or setting for this that I could apply to the photos? Any aftermarket add ons to fix the colours automatically? I have Aperture, Lightroom and Photoshop and on a Mac.

not looking forward to edit 250 photos by hand.

There is no fast fix. Nor an easy one. In Lightroom and Aperture correction is impossible. All magenta reduction techniques will result in a green cast somewhere else on the image. In Photoshop you will have to use layers, blending masks and a colour correction brush to get it decent. You may even need to go into LAB to get some of the colours right.

Best, as mentioned above, to convert to black and white.

Btw Thanks for the link - it reflects some of the speculations about the Magenta cast back then. Many did not understand the cause. However, people who had experience with the Nikon D70 just rushed out to get a filter...;)

Thanks for the info. I thought as much. Anyway prefer B & W :D

But still like the Leica colours- so getting UV/ IR filters for my lenses. I have vintage lenses.

1960 Summicron 90mm 2.0 (chrome)- E48 filter

1973 Summicron C40mm 2.0 (black)- E 39 filter

So I know the E48 is not too common. Found some on bandhphoto- was just wondering they also have Leica Series 7 filters for the M8. But those are larger or standard size right?

The multipurpose ones are bulky I think- so rather get the screw in compact ones that fit.

Are there any other filter options for these lenses?

Before I got myself the UV/IR filters, I was using the Nik Software Viveza plugin, quite useful to isolate some parts of the picture and apply corrections to specific colours and hues.

LR 5 provides local adjustments to temp and/or tint using either the adjustment brush or the graduated filter. Neither is ideal for this, but not exactly "impossible."

Aside from B+W, Rocolax sell affordable UV/IR screw-in filters in many sizes including 39 and 48 mm. I have no experience with the latters but i have one Rocolax 40.5 mm which works fine. Mine has no internal filter thread though so i cannot screw other filters or screw-in hoods into it.

UV/IR Series 7 filters are more expensive and need an adapter to fit lenses with filter threads. Not sure if there are adapters for E48 lenses though given that the diameter of Series 7 filters is larger.
