algrove Posted September 29, 2013 Share #6 Posted September 29, 2013 great news! Is it possible to charge the battery with the external power supply socket? (I think no) Yes, as I already have the external power supply. It looks to me like it plugs into the left side socket of the MF grip. Great news about getting these! Photogeek Posted September 29, 2013 Share #8 Posted September 29, 2013 I tried it quickly yesterday. GPS signal first acquisition needs a clear space. You can easily lost the signal if you cover the top of the grip with your fingers. You can charge the battery with the optional external power adapter. USB port gives back the PTP feature of the M9 and also allows to use the M as an external storage device. I got it in Paris from Leica Montmartre. They also received the basic grip. Still no news for the R to M adapter...
algrove Posted October 1, 2013 Share #9 Posted October 1, 2013 My contacts talked directly with the French Leica importer and they were able to see just three of these in stock at Leica Germany. That unto itself in encouraging, however, the French importer was very explicit in saying that they have not yet imported one of these MF grips into France. So the question remains, how did you really get this grip?
Shade Posted October 2, 2013 Share #10 Posted October 2, 2013 Wow you guys are lucky. On my local dealer, they still dont even have the price on it. In fact, it's not even listed!
wlaidlaw Posted October 2, 2013 Share #11 Posted October 2, 2013 I just spoke to Ffordes in Beauly, Scotland and they have not seen any of the MF grips yet. They also understand however, they are due through soon and I am well up on the list, having ordered over a year ago. The standard grips arrived last week along with the SCA adapters for the MF grip. No sign of R to M adapters either - ho-humm. Wilson
johnbuckley Posted October 2, 2013 Share #12 Posted October 2, 2013 I've had a grip and the R adapter on order since last September. My M arrived on February 28th. I just checked with my U.S.-based dealer and his response was, Nope, no new info. But he too had seen reports that the grips are trickling out in Europe, which obviously is a good sign. But in America, especially during these crazy days politically, we cannot get a grip...
algrove Posted October 2, 2013 Share #13 Posted October 2, 2013 It is strange that Washington, DC runs a surplus while our bureaucrats argue over how big the deficit should be excluding health watch. Good sign that at least the MF grip has surfaced in Solms as far as the Leica to importer computer system goes. Let's hope the 3 are soon followed up by thousands more. Photogeek Posted October 3, 2013 Share #15 Posted October 3, 2013 My contacts talked directly with the French Leica importer and they were able to see just three of these in stock at Leica Germany. That unto itself in encouraging, however, the French importer was very explicit in saying that they have not yet imported one of these MF grips into France. So the question remains, how did you really get this grip? Your contact is wrong. My dealer received 4 of them. And another dealer in Paris received 2. Another one received 6 flash adapters for the grip.
