Landberg Posted September 18, 2013 Share #1 Posted September 18, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi! My Leica M2 won't lock the lens anymore. Even after the klick I can still just twist it and take it off without pushing the lens release.. Does anyone know what to do? Is it a common problem? Advertisement Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Hi Landberg, Take a look here Leica m2 won't lock my lens?!. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
250swb Posted September 18, 2013 Share #2 Posted September 18, 2013 Sometimes the rebate in the lens flange that accepts the locking catch can swage over on the edges, the metal 'spreads' due to wear as it is dragged across the catch each time the lens is mounted. And sometimes you can even buy a new lens (CV or Zeiss) that still has some machining swarf around the inside edge of this rebate which does the same thing, it stops the catch on the body locating in the cutout to lock the lens. So perhaps have a look, and if it looks rough or swaged over use a sharp knife blade to run around the inside edge of the rebate in the lens mount. Landberg Posted September 18, 2013 Author Share #4 Posted September 18, 2013 It does lock on my M5? Could it still be the lens?
250swb Posted September 18, 2013 Share #5 Posted September 18, 2013 It does lock on my M5? Could it still be the lens? Yes, your M5 catch my simply have a slightly different tolerance, or even be worn itself making it smaller. This is only an idea, but its worth a close look before blaming springs and other mechanical things before sending it off to a techie un-necessarily. Landberg Posted September 18, 2013 Author Share #6 Posted September 18, 2013 It looks like the M2 lens release button don't "spring" back. Think that is the problem. Can i remove that without to much trouble?
