satya Posted September 12, 2013 Share #1 Posted September 12, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have been reading on forums that SanDisk was at times buggy with the M8s. My M8 was updated with the firmware. But today evening when taking some test shots- the camera would not click the shutter and only when turned off it would click. The Battery was charged. The photos I took did not come out. This happened for a few minutes and when turning on- the red light would just flash but nothing would show on the screen. It worked afterwards. The card is an 8Gb Extreme Pro 45mb speed. Which is of no use on the M8 rt? Have to look for an Ultra card but wonder if I should just switch to Lexar? Saw some posts saying no problems with those cards. Never used Lexar before. Im due to get a Digilux 2 soon in the mail- so may as well get some slower cards to use for the M8 and D2. Sometimes older cards seem bug free! I have an old Sony SD card that has worked in every camera Ive used- but its small in todays Standards- 1Gb! lol. I guess 2Gb is best size for M8? Advertisement Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Hi satya, Take a look here M8 had problems with my SanDisk Ext Pro. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lct Posted September 12, 2013 Share #2 Posted September 12, 2013 Your card should work. You might wish to save its content and format it once with SD Formatter. Format it again in the camera afterwards and all should be OK if the card is not corrupted.
NJH Posted September 12, 2013 Share #3 Posted September 12, 2013 The 16 gig version of that card is I believe all I have ever used in my M8. Not had any problems but I did format it in the camera prior to use. I remembered I have had one lockup on a hot day that required the battery out, this was at an air show so I may have tripped over the infamous 6 shot buffer problem without noticing. On another occasion the battery died without warning but it was the battery that came with the camera so I bought 2x new Leica batteries and haven't had any battery problems since. Otherwise no other problems and no lost images yet but I am only about 900 shots in to this camera (I don't get out near enough)
jaapv Posted September 13, 2013 Share #4 Posted September 13, 2013 It is not always the camera. Cards can become corrupted for no apparent reason. Get the recoverable images off with Rescue Pro, reformat first in the computer and next in the camera. If the card works, fine. If not, throw it in the bin (oops- I meant recycle with due care;)) If it misbehaves a second time throw it in the bin regardless.
