Advertisement Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 Hi uskoeln, Take a look here Leica M 240 battery. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted September 6, 2013 Share #22 Posted September 6, 2013 Ah -there is the rub. This thread is about M240 batteries which do not exist as clones.
brill64 Posted September 6, 2013 Share #23 Posted September 6, 2013 not worth skimping on batteries..damage caused by a third party copy could blow your warranty.
algrove Posted September 6, 2013 Share #24 Posted September 6, 2013 These work without issues. Adorama ADBM8 Rechargeable Li-Ion Battery for Leica BM8 BM8 Sorry, I had said B&H earlier-it was Adorama at $30 not $15.
jaapv Posted September 6, 2013 Share #25 Posted September 6, 2013 How do you fit them in the M?
algrove Posted September 6, 2013 Share #26 Posted September 6, 2013 OK, OK, I know this is an M battery thread, Sorry, but wanted to correct an earlier error.
lct Posted September 6, 2013 Share #27 Posted September 6, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) This is not a battery for M240 and i would be surprised if it works w/o issue on M8 or M9 cameras. AFAIK all generic batteries must be fully discharged in M8 or M9 before recharging them to avoid false meter readings. algrove Posted September 6, 2013 Share #28 Posted September 6, 2013 I KNOW they work in the M9, MM.
lct Posted September 6, 2013 Share #29 Posted September 6, 2013 Sorry Lou but i've tried too many generic batteries to believe that. All did cause false meter readings when i failed to discharge them fully in the camera before recharging them.

jaapv Posted September 6, 2013 Share #31 Posted September 6, 2013 Obviously the charge level indicator is meant. It is pretty annoying not to know the state of charge of a battery. Yes, you can lose a few shots if a battery cuts out unexpectedly. Most third party batteries work for a while, but the quality is inconsistent. I once bought four. Two of them died within a few months, two worked for two or three years. As a contras, two out of three of my original M8 batteries from 2006 still work just fine. algrove Posted September 7, 2013 Share #32 Posted September 7, 2013 You get what you pay for. I only got these as backup batteries since when going into a winter wind a few years back, I figured I could need about 10 batteries to hold me from a sunrise to a sunset. Just kept all as warm as I could and never needed the 3rd party ones.
Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted September 7, 2013 Share #33 Posted September 7, 2013 But why try and save 70$ when you have just bought a 7000 $ camera?. +
lct Posted September 7, 2013 Share #34 Posted September 7, 2013 By false meter readings, do you mean your exposures suffered? Bad exposures? No but if you charge a generic battery drained at 50% for instance, your camera meter will remain at 50% or give any other false reading which is an annoyance at best. Aside from that, most of my generic batteries work flawlessly and sometimes better than originals.
gib_robinson Posted September 7, 2013 Share #35 Posted September 7, 2013 Is there any downside to repeatedly re-charging an "almost full" M battery (say at 80%). I prefer to recharge after an outing if I can rather than wait until after several outings. Thanks, --Gib
lct Posted September 8, 2013 Share #36 Posted September 8, 2013 No provided you full discharge the battery in the camera from time to time, "every 25 cycles" says the instruction manual (page 143).

FMB Posted September 8, 2013 Share #38 Posted September 8, 2013 Is there any big consumption difference between using LV through the screen or through the viewfinder EVF 2. Some one has any experience about it? Francisco.
algrove Posted September 8, 2013 Share #39 Posted September 8, 2013 No comparison-too tedious, however using the EVF a lot yields pretty good results, but of course it drains faster than using RF all the time. I would think the LV on LCD consumes more power, but my opinion.
FMB Posted September 8, 2013 Share #40 Posted September 8, 2013 Without measuring the time I've been doing macro the lost of battery capacity has been notorious. Another day trying the Apo Exteder 2X plus Apo 180 mm I've got the battery exhausted in a half an hour. May be my battery fails...
