I'm not sure if the previous versions are available ...

The original version 1.1.0.0 was never available for public download, as far as I know. The previous version 1.1.0.2 was available until earlier today—but now isn't anymore. You certainly saved a copy, didn't you? ;)

By the way, I just updated to 2.0.0.11 a few minutes ago. Forgot to save my user profiles prior to updating ... but fortunately, the camera kept them, they're all still there. Made a few test shots with the Summilux-M 21 mm Asph before and after, and the colour rendition near the edges indeed has improved. It wasn't bad before, it still isn't perfect, but there is a slight improvement (probably not noticable in everyday shots; I shot a white wall for this test).

Wake-up time after auto power-off has not improved. :(

The copyright feature now is usable—but still isn't any useful. The copyright information tag still is limited to 17 characters (which is way too short for any meaningful copyright notice), and the copyright symbol © is still missing from the alphabet (and no, "©" is not legally equivalent). And the Copyright Status in the IPTC data keeps saying, "Unknown" even when the camera's copyright feature is on. :(

The time-zone bug (i. e. the time-zone setting falsely being stored in the user profile) has not been fixed. :(

A fair few of us have tested this version extensively and the verdict was universally favourable.

There are a few minor glitches that remain (mainly the EVF blackout at high temps) but none of us found any new problems generated by the upgrade.

WB now works fine ..... and as a persistent critic of it (and other associated colour issues) from day one ..... I am very happy ....... and I am hard to please ;)

Upgrade and enjoy :)

...... please note ...... this was purely a bug fix and WB/Colour correction exercise.......

...... enhanced/requested features are pending....... but Leica is aware of what you want.......

Upgraded but not yet enjoyed; it's dark and the subject (baby) is sleeping :), Btw, want to know the inside of why it took so long to get the new firmware (and accessories) out?! First we had the summer = nothing being done, then just about when everybody had come back to work and actually started working, Octoberfest came = everybody being drunk for a week. Now they have all sobered up and realized that the needed, awaited FW was done already in the spring but someone forgot to release it... :D:D

Some of us have been working on the new firmware since the end of July actually. My general feeling FWIW is that WB has been significantly improved to the point that i don't need my personal colour profile any more. Red edge issues have been fixed down to 28mm coded lenses more or less but they are still disturbing on wider lenses as far as my samples are concerned (21/2.8 asph, 24/3.8 asph). This is somewhat a disappointment as i expected better results from the new microlenses of the CMOS sensor. Aside from that i've never suffered from camera hanging personally so i can just hope that the new firmware will bring some good news from this standpoint. All in all a modest but solid firmware update IMHO although i regret that nothing has been made to reduce startup and wakeup times so far. The new Toshiba 260 MB/s cards will help Leica to fulfill their specifications hopefully but the M240 remains a slow camera with the fastest cards on the market for now.

I experienced three major issues with the camera:

  1. Occasional reset to factory defaults
  2. Frequent battery drain when not turned off manually
  3. Pathethic startup time with some cards

I don't know yet if #1 and #2 were resolved, it will need some time. #3 was not fixed.

Occasional reset to factory defaults

That's just a user error, so don't expect any help from the firmware here.

Frequent battery drain when not turned off manually

According to Leica Camera, this issue should be solved.

Pathethic startup time with some cards

I'm afraid this has not been fixed.

That would be great. Could you you explain? The problem is that when not using custom user profiles, all settings, including the copyright information, would intermittently get reset to factory defaults.

Thanks.

IMHO this is now a non issue so long as you format the card before use with the SDFormater utility. This transforms the camera's startup time.

It is still a big issue for me. I formatted my cards with SDFormatter and the startup time is still more than 2x slower than Leica specs (and order of magnitude slower than any other camera I have touched) and close to 4s with 32GB Sandisk Extreme Pro.

Concerning slow start up times I think this is also a non-issue, with the understanding that the M240 requires fast (ultra fast) SD cards. I know this isn't the answer that people want to hear, but I'm afraid it's probably the only solution going forward.

I share my experience with the M240 update FW 2.0.0.11 after a morning's testing. My news is all good -- Leica lives up to its improvements description and I found some results I did not dare to hope for.

My concern had been red-edge, so I'll describe my tests on that issue.

My 24 Elmar had slight right-side red-edge -- gone! The 28 Cron had more of an all-around slight red-edge -- now all gone also.

My Zeiss 18mm f4 had pronounced all-around red-edge. Now, unnoticable. You must set the M240 to the code for the 21mm pre-asph to get this good result.

Now the unbelievable: After the update, my CV12mm performs on the M240 as it had on the M-E -- no noticable red-edge, and no significant vignetting by f8! It's a pleasure to be able to now use LV and see a 12mm perspective! Again, you must use the 21mm pre-asph code (even the Tri-Elmar 16mm code is off). The general utility of the 21mm pre-asph code is back!

This is my second posting of my lens use results, now on this forum. I ask kindly again: Please share your results under the new FW; in particular and in regard to red-edge: How does the Tri_Elmar perform at 16mm?, How does the 18mm Elmar perform? Other wide-angles? Do you get the same results with my wide-angles? Thank you for any information. Tom

Tom, my results with the CV12/5.6 are the same as yours in that virtually all of the magenta edge is gone. The CV15/4.5 still has some, and needs Cornerfix or other pp correction. And the 21/3.4 Super Elmar M is now working perfectly. I don't own the WATE, but others have reported excellent results at all focal lengths. Enjoy the new FW and look forward to seeing your images.
