farnz Posted August 27, 2013 Share #1 Â Posted August 27, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just spotted this advertisement from a very well known and respected Leica dealer who is selling an M8 with "sensor cleaning function"* (note the 6th entry in the Highlights list). Â I might contact Solms and ask if this is available through Leica's Upgrade Program. Â Pete. * presumably this doesn't refer to doing it manually with Visible Dust, wet wipes and sandpaper etc.
Advertisement Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Hi farnz, Take a look here The new M8 with sensor cleaning function!. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Erik Gunst Lund Posted August 27, 2013 Share #2  Posted August 27, 2013 Nice one  I recall the Nikon D1 required to have an 'external' power source connected to allow the 'mirror up for cleaning' Of course you could use the 'bulb' setting but that was a bit risky....  Naturally the power connector/adapter was Nikon design and cost a small fortune. earleygallery Posted August 27, 2013 Share #3 Â Posted August 27, 2013 Maybe it's been infested with dust mites?
wda Posted August 27, 2013 Share #4  Posted August 27, 2013 I missed that mod! Interesting to see that the M8 prices are firming around £1400.
satya Posted September 10, 2013 Share #5 Â Posted September 10, 2013 Hey... a lot of M8s a lot in good condition and low shutter counts. Almost makes me want to get a chrome M8 to keep the black one company. And now I see this after stressing on ebay- for a few days. Â Is it just me or are a lot of M8s being sold now lately? NJH Posted September 11, 2013 Share #6  Posted September 11, 2013 They do seem pretty firm in price, the number for sale is no greater then when I acquired mine back in March. I don't think the M9 has dropped much if at all in price either, the one thing that is noticeable is that when cheap M9s come up they go almost straightaway. Ffordes for example had one which looked a bit more 'used' than is typical for £2.5K the other week. Checked a day later and it had gone.
