i have been using Sandisk 16 GB SDHC Memory Card Extreme Pro Class 10 UHS-I cards.

I have experienced some banding as discussed in other threads.

recommended cards that help limit the banding issue that were suggested in other threads:

-Panasonic 16GB SDHC Memory Card Class 10

-Transcend Class 10 32GB 20MB/s

any others to suggest to limit banding in the MM when pushing shadows a few stops?

will the slower cards slow down write time in my MM, or do slower cards only slow down offload times into my imac?

I haven't seen the threads on banding with the MM, and if anybody were to ask me what caused banding I'd instinctively say 'under exposure'. So my experience is different as I haven't seen any banding with my MM despite using it in challenging lighting and very dark rooms where dark corners can go to almost black and some under exposure is almost inevitable. I've been using a 16gb SanDisk Extreme III SDHC card and recently a Fuji 32gb Class 10 SDHC HD card. Both work perfectly.

do these slow SD cards slow down write time in camera?

thanks!

No, but they will slow down write times to your computer. Which you will only notice if you use an USB 3.0 reader.

Just a few notes on MM banding.

1.There is no banding if the buffer is allowed to be cleared between shots.

2.There is normally no banding at iso levels above 320 even if shot in continuous mode.

3.If your camera shows banding in deep shadows at base iso when shot continuously, no sd card can solve the problem. There is however a tendency for faster and higher capacity cards to exhibit more banding than slower and lower capacity cards. Some sd cards also exhibits a very regular pattern that is easily removed by Nik Denoise 2. Other cards exhibits a highly irregular pattern that cannot be fixed. This unfortunately requires a bit of experimentation.
