Advertisement Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Hi Guest camera man, Take a look here Tim Ashley on M240 and 28 Cron. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pieterpronk Posted August 14, 2013 Share #42 Posted August 14, 2013 Low contrast lens the 28/2? We won't agree on this i'm afraid. As for the M240, it works fine with both asph and pre-asph lenses IMO. My best word to describe it is transparent. Well, low contrast might indeed be wrongly put. I do find its rendering to be less "asph" than most other "asph" lenses, like for example the 35mm cron asph and the 50mm summilux asph. So I would say it's low contrast compared to other modern Leica lenses. I use mine together with a 50mm Summilux asph on my MM, and I find the draw of the 28mm to be much more subtle and less modern. I would characterize it as a lens that is in between the older lenses and the more modern asph lenses.

don daniel Posted August 16, 2013 Share #44 Posted August 16, 2013 Yes, and you can add that on the new M you can see this subtle, less modern drawing of the SC28, too.
don daniel Posted August 17, 2013 Share #45 Posted August 17, 2013 And to show this: Leica M with SC28 asph., click to be able to see full resolution and the very subtle transition from sharpness to bokeh: Strandkorb 99 von Blende 1.4 auf Flickr I'm pretty sure a Summilux 28 if one day there will be such a lens won't match the subtleness of the Summicron because it will be like the Summilux 35 FLE: brutally sharp and it will cut off the sharp part from the rest of the image. And it will be big and heavy.
thrid Posted August 19, 2013 Share #46 Posted August 19, 2013 Lenses don't take boring pictures; people take boring pictures.
