Guest Essemmlee Posted July 31, 2013 Share #41 Posted July 31, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Uncle! Thanks guys! I think? Jonathan Whilst thinking, check the buy and sell area for a very reasonably priced Monochrom. It could so easily be yours.

349A Posted July 31, 2013 Author Share #42 Posted July 31, 2013 Thank you, already purchased a brand new one for a great price. Relatively, that is. Jonathan

349A Posted July 31, 2013 Author Share #44 Posted July 31, 2013 Yes, I was holding back for weeks... the input on this forum pushed me over the edge. Heck, you only live once. Now to keep myself from buying a Noctilux...
Jeff S Posted August 1, 2013 Share #45 Posted August 1, 2013 Well you went from saying yesterday "I'm not in a rush; I'm going to sleep on it" to proclaiming "Uncle" 5 hours later, despite comments suggesting an alternate approach, and buying it hours after that. But you started 2 days ago by recognizing a "serious case of GAS." Bingo. And to think I recommended taking a methodical 3 month approach for saving money and testing the b/w experience with the M9. My new advice...buy the Noctilux and save yourself the agony of a long day pouring through another 30 or so posts (half of which will suggest one way, half another) just to get to the place you know you want to get. 349A Posted August 1, 2013 Author Share #46 Posted August 1, 2013 Pouring through the image thread on the RFF finally sold me. The emotional reaction some of those images caused made it nearly a no brainer for me. Of course the talent of the photographers was a good part of that. However, I never had that same reaction to M9 or M240 images. Did I move too quickly? Sure, that's my general nature:) Jonathan
Jeff S Posted August 1, 2013 Share #47 Posted August 1, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Did I move too quickly? Nope, my point is that you acted too slowly. With serious GAS, there's no need to waste 2 days on the forum, with predictably varied responses. Jeff
Bill W Posted August 1, 2013 Share #48 Posted August 1, 2013 Well if you see a Noctilux for sale from France for $7000 do not buy it as a couple of folks here either own it or bought it. Serial #4085469
349A Posted August 1, 2013 Author Share #49 Posted August 1, 2013 I spied that one with two completed auctions by two different sellers. Scam for sure. Thanks for the heads up. Jonathan
Bill W Posted August 1, 2013 Share #50 Posted August 1, 2013 Have fun with the MM. Here is a shot with the 135 from about 10 feet and no post processing except some cropping. I really like the 135 to get up close with being up close. Welcome, dear visitor! What I saw so far was mediocre, from an artistic point of view, not how sharp the cat e.g. was etc.
Bill Allsopp Posted August 1, 2013 Share #52 Posted August 1, 2013 The M9 can do mono the MM can't do colour, and there the argument ends as far as my wallet is concerned.

BrendanD Posted August 2, 2013 Share #56 Posted August 2, 2013 Hi, Good decision to get the MM. I have an M9, and a Olympus OMD with a couple of lenses. Since getting the MM last autumn the M9 hasnt been used. I take the OMD and the MM. Will probably sell the M9.
luigi bertolotti Posted August 2, 2013 Share #57 Posted August 2, 2013 you might be interested in this recent interview with Leica's Kaufman from leicarumors "For the next three years Leica has a lot of "very interesting products in the pipeline". New products will be announced this fall and next spring. Dr. Kaufman hinted that new Monochrom devices "would make sense". Another quote: "we are working on many different solutions for the full format". Thanks for the link... I missed that interview : OOT, I was a lot pleased with this Dr. Kaufmann' statement : The Leica Mini M campaign was a mistake: "Leica people have learned one thing with this story: Do not play with the M!" Adrian Lord Posted August 2, 2013 Share #58 Posted August 2, 2013 To the OP: Having bought myself a MM last week, I can do nothing a week later to persuade you not to. It's fantastic.
