dennersten Posted July 28, 2013 Share #1 Posted July 28, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I bought a bag of Nikon F stuff extremly cheap at a local auction house. Mostly to make a buck or two (now when hopefully M and a 50 AA is soon going to make me poor) but also nostalgically. It was nearly exactly the same setup i used as a professional in the eighties. But with the Leica M soon (hopefully) coming in i wondered if it worth the expense to buy a Leica m -Nikon F adapter. As i remembered it the 180/2.8 and 105/1.8 where really good lenses back then. But are good enough today? And they are very bulky.
Advertisement Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 Hi dennersten, Take a look here Nikon F lenses on a Leica M. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Erik Gunst Lund Posted July 28, 2013 Share #2 Posted July 28, 2013 There are many adapters available, the more expensive usually the better quality.... Metabones and Novoflex are good quality. Only a few of the old Nikon F will be good, both mentioned will not.

What Nikon lenses did you buy? 180mm f2.8 AiS is pretty good no worse than R 180mm normal versions, Leica APO 180mm lenses are in different quality, scarcity & price league. 105mm f2.5 is good & cheap, better than 105mm f1.8 fully open plus it is smaller than Leica's 90mm AA. I happen to have both 105mm f2.5 & 90AA and 105mm is on my "To Try" list when eventually M-Liveview camera comes my way. Considering relative low price compared to Leica R lenses today they are good value, if you have them F-M lens adapter to use on M240 wouldn't break the bank. gpwhite Posted July 31, 2013 Share #5 Posted July 31, 2013 I can recommend the Noct-Nikkor 58mm via Novoflex adapter on the M240. It is superb. It is sharper than the rental Noctilux I compared it to, although the colors and rendering are not quite as magical as the Noctilux. Close focus with the Noct-Nikkor is really exciting and crisp.
gberger Posted July 31, 2013 Share #6 Posted July 31, 2013 At one time, along with my trusty IIIc, I had a Nikkormat SLR (ouch) with an f2.5 105 lens. The lens was excellent to superb for portraits. Just the right perspective. Didn't use it for much else. Gave the Nikkormat to my son-in-law when I got an M4. I wish I had a similar lens. jaques Posted August 1, 2013 Share #9 Posted August 1, 2013 I just bought a Nikon to M mount adapter ring so I can try out my 28mm 2.8 PC Nikkor Shift lens on the M240. Does anyone have experience using the PC shift lenses on Leica?
