The only regret I've ever had with it is that it diminished the excitement of the new M (an excellent camera in its own right, but not in the same league as the MM). It's the only camera I've ever owned that has made new releases of other cameras uninteresting: The MM has totally removed the urge to consider any other camera, no matter what it is. I agree 100%. I avoided digital bypassing the M8 and M9 so going straight from analogue to digital MM seemed like a small step but with a huge increase in utility, resolution and flexibility (e.g. handheld IR with 35 summicron at f2.8/f4 and 1/90 at ISO 2000) simply marvellous Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

skinnfell Posted June 30, 2013 Share #31 Posted June 30, 2013 I did have a few days of cold feet since i installed the new firmware and got banding, lockups and whole rash of other electronic problems. It IS a very expensive camera, i use it professionally and i have a book project to finish with it. However, Leica told me a couple of days ago that they would like to replace it with a new one from the factory, and that took care of all my worries, even if i have to wait a bit for the new one. In use, it is a joy, as others have reported about. However, i do have a few comments for you to consider: - lightroom 4 is not sufficient to get the most out of the files. I feel the slider sets are designed for cmos color sensors, and i am having a very hard time getting the look i desire with LR alone. I have been using LR for work daily since v1. So be prepared to spend a bit more time with MM files than say M9 files. - the display is even more horrid than on M9, so do not under any circumstance use the display for anything more than histograms and menus. ger1g0 Posted June 30, 2013 Share #35 Posted June 30, 2013 I I am lucky enough to shoot with a quite a few of the better mirrorless cameras out there, including the M9-P. When I use these cameras, I almost always have them set in B&W. Despite this, I still did not understand rationale behind the Monochrom when Leica initially released it. I thought it felt limited. That was until I got one in Feb, since the wait for the new M will stretch to next year for me. Wow, what a camera. It's really now the only camera body I go to now despite my drying cabinet over flowing with equipment. It's a joy to shoot. It makes almost all my Leica lenses sing. And the files just never ceases to amazing me. The sharpness, the ability to capture detail, and the range of tones. A lot of camera bodies have come and gone. The anticipation (for me) experienced when opening an MM file in Photoshop is hard to beat. When I pick the camera up, I just want to go out and shoot with it. Tina Yeah pretty much have done that...I like LR(4 still for me) more than Aperture now.
