ymc226 Posted June 22, 2013 Share #1 Posted June 22, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Has anyone received the half case for the new M? I see the cut out for the EVF from the pictures on his website but desire confirmation that the Leica EVF fits with the case on. Otherwise the, the Arte di Mano seems to be the only other option. ymc226 Posted June 22, 2013 Author Share #5 Posted June 22, 2013 Thanks Leicatraveller and Jeverett. I like the Angelo Pelle cases as well. How is the workmanship and leather compared to Luigi? Is Arte di Mano considered the finest? It's certainly the priciest. The 2 things I would change would be a smaller grip ala Luigi or Arte di Mano and a back flap that flips dow and is not completely removable.

I liked the Aret Di Mano but I preferred having a flap to cover the display which the Arte did not have. I used to have a Luigi for my M8 and the Pelle is just as good. The only problem with the Pelle is that it does not have a tripod mount screw which I would have liked but can do without.

The 2 things I would change would be a smaller grip ala Luigi or Arte di Mano and a back flap that flips dow and is not completely removable. I recently got the Luigi full case. Without the detachable lens and top cover its much like the half case and the EVF works fine with it. The EVF will not fit under the full case cover of course. Luigi's cases have a slightly less slick quality about them as if someone sat down and actually hand made it with care. I have one for my M9 as well. - Vikas

leicatraveller Posted June 23, 2013 Share #10 Posted June 23, 2013 A quick question if i may? In the photographs linked to it appears that the case covers the LV button at the top on the left. Is this correct? on my case LV button is half covered, i can access with finger directly to the button if i need but i discovered much more practical to push with finger on the leather over LV button, and its like to push the button with my finger,it works fine

jeverett Posted June 23, 2013 Share #12 Posted June 23, 2013 My live view button is not covered at all, I just received the half case last week so maybe they have modified the pattern.
terrycym Posted June 24, 2013 Share #13 Posted June 24, 2013 I've noticed that a number of the cases (Luigi for example) allow you to use the Leica grip. What are these cases like? Judging from the photos, the fit doesn't look that hot compared to those that don't use the Leica grip. I have a Leica grip on on my M-E and I would feel uncomfortable not using one, Are the built in grip case options as good as the Leica grip?
HeinzX Posted July 11, 2013 Share #14 Posted July 11, 2013 I have a question regarding payment for Pelle half cases. I have ordered a case and will pay by bank transfer. I got a confirment of my order - and I wrote to Pelle that I need IBAN and BIC an account number for transfer. Afterwards there was no reaction. Does that mean, that payment by bank transfer is made after delivery, when I get an invoice? I have no problems with that, but my assumption was, that payment in advance would be applied. Thank you for Information, if you have paid in advance or after receipt of invoice.

thighslapper Posted July 11, 2013 Share #16 Posted July 11, 2013 I got fed up waiting for Luigi and got a Pelle case ..... paid by paypal .... ordered on thursday and it arrived saturday morning ..... (to the UK from Italy) The leather is very soft but VERY thick ..... and adds quite a bit to the M size ... particularly as the built in grip is quite bulky...... Fit is excellent and the rear cover is nice. Makes the camera very easy to hold though. Strap is nice .... and the wrist straps are very good (I ordered two) particularly the Testa di Moro which is wonderfully soft. Mr L's finally appeared and it is (as usual) a different beast completely .... much more elegant and delicate in comparison. Fit and finish is superb...... but at nearly twice the price it should be..... Pelle's current deal on the 'aged Foxy Brown' is excellent value for this degree of craftsmanship and materials. Both have good points and as I cannot choose between them I suppose I will have to get a 2nd M .....
StephenPatterson Posted July 12, 2013 Share #17 Posted July 12, 2013 I asked Luigi's daughter Ginevra to quote a case I wanted and she said it would take 30+ days to custom make, but they had one in stock that was identical except for the color of the stitching (ivory instead of black). Bingo, case shipped and received in two days to Hong Kong. Service doesn't get much better than that! The best thing Luigi ever did was press his daughter Ginevra into service. Very nice, very responsive, very good english and a delight to work with.

Very nice, very responsive, very good english and a delight to work with. You left out, she is also quite a fine looking young lady which isn't surprising considering her parents are an attractive couple. They really don't like people to keep calling or emailing about when their case will arrive, so they do tend to over estimate the time. I wanted a black case with red stitching and interior which they did not have in stock and was quoted four to six weeks. I was very surprised and happy when Fed Ex showed up unexpectedly in about two weeks with a package from Luigi.
albertknappmd Posted July 12, 2013 Share #19 Posted July 12, 2013 I will second Stephen's comment about Ginevra: she is a superb addition to his company and has made life undoubtedly easier not only for all the customers but for the boss himself! Albert :)

I got a Pelle in the interim as I was impatient (rather than 'fed up' - sorry Luigi! ), interested in the quality and they were heavily discounted.
