Annibale G. Posted April 5, 2007 Share #1 Posted April 5, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I've got a Leica M7 0,58 . I bought this viewfinder versio because I would take photos maily with the 35mm. Now I'm thinking about a 90 mm lenses. What about this lenses and my 0,58 version? what do you think about the viewfinder magnifier 1,25M? Thanks Annibale

philipotto Posted April 6, 2007 Share #2 Posted April 6, 2007 Annibale, I have moved your thread from Barnack's Bar to the Customer Forum, where I think you will get more responces. I don't own the 1.25 magnifier myself, but have read many positive reviews from owners that couldn't live without it. It is a very popular accessory that has gotten alot of attention lately thanks to the introduction of the M8, which currently only comes with one magnification: 0.68. Cheers, Philip
frc Posted April 7, 2007 Share #3 Posted April 7, 2007 It'll make it about the same as the .72 which I have, the 90 frame is very well usable with this magnification. However, I also use the 1.25 magnifier and can say that it works fine. That is if you don't mind the elevation it gives on the back surface of the camera. andit Posted April 7, 2007 Share #4 Posted April 7, 2007 Hi Annibale I'm not sure if you are looking at getting the magnifier from Leica. Megaperls in Japan make a 1.35x magnifier with built in diopter adjustment. I just received mine last week and am very impressed with it. From what I have read here on the forum, this magnifier is just as good as the Leica one, at a third of the price. Dirk Rösler's service is excellent and he keeps you informed every step of the way. It took just one week to get here from Japan - and I'm in one of the more remote parts of South Africa. Hope this helps. larry Posted April 7, 2007 Share #5 Posted April 7, 2007 Hi Annibale, I have an M7 with the .58 viewfinder and bought the 1.25 magnifier specifically for use with my 90 2.8 Elmarit. It does make focusing much easier, but on the downside, the viewfinder isn't quite as bright. Considering that I wear glasses when I shoot, the viewfinder/magnifier combination is ideal. rafael_macia Posted April 8, 2007 Share #6 Posted April 8, 2007 Andit, the Megaperls site states "because of conflict with Leica. There are no shipments to Germany or the United States" .. do you know about that? One note, I think for sure one needs an eyepiece cushion on the Megaperls products. I think the Megaperls diopter is metal. Not great with glasses. Here is a link for a fellow in Japan who provides inexpensive, perfectly cut leather doughnuts, that via adhesive backing, attach securely, and protect eyeglasses, from eyepiece scratches. http://www.aki-asahi.com/store/index.php Should you need it... I would go for the 1.35 if I were you. It's a long way from .58 to a good view of a 90 field. Rafael
