jaapv Posted June 14, 2013 Share #1 Posted June 14, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Leica was kind enough to lift my NDA on the engraving . Leather by Aloysius NG and strap by Gordy. Let the battle of taste begin. Up front, every non-Leica user I met liked it, some Leica fans did not . As for stealth - if you turn your camera into a conversation topic, it is rarely noticed that you are actually using it to take photographs. Welcome, dear visitor! K-Photo Posted June 14, 2013 Share #2 Posted June 14, 2013 Let the battle of taste begin. Let's go. When you had it removed for the engraving, I would have changed the surface, too. Antique silver surface with a special polishing.
mmradman Posted June 14, 2013 Share #3 Posted June 14, 2013 Why abuse, I like top plate engraving, not so sure about skin, it is theft proof and definitely talking point. What lens?
jaapv Posted June 14, 2013 Author Share #4 Posted June 14, 2013 I don't think I could have pushed Leica that far. It was enough of an uphill struggle (aided and abetted by the CS department) to get the engraving done. I think there is only one other Monochrom engraved by Leica. Let's go. K-Photo Posted June 14, 2013 Share #6 Posted June 14, 2013 Not sure how I feel about the Vivitar yellow filter. Should be a red filter. Looks better together with the red engraving. Jochen

Ecar Posted June 14, 2013 Share #8 Posted June 14, 2013 Sometimes turning your camera into a conversation topic may well be a good strategy to get the pictures... In keeping with the red theme, here's a suggestion to replace the Gordy's strap (sorry, could only find a picture where it's attached to a Nikon): Welcome, dear visitor! Zeiss Biogon ZM 35/2.8 So, when we all send ours in for engraving, all we have to say is, "Well you did it for Jaap, so you should do it for me." rirakuma Posted June 14, 2013 Share #12 Posted June 14, 2013 I think that imprint of your name is awesome but I'm not a fan of the red Leica writing or that snakeskin? leather. Its your camera though so you get to do whatever you want with it . If I could choose a different leather material for the body I would undoubtedly choose shell cordovan in #8 even if its not very grippy.
Guest Essemmlee Posted June 14, 2013 Share #13 Posted June 14, 2013 It might have lost just a fraction of it's stealthiness. Just a tad though:)
1joel1 Posted June 14, 2013 Share #14 Posted June 14, 2013 Zeiss Biogon ZM 35/2.8 I'm curious why you chose the 2.8. I am deciding between the f2 and f2.8 Biogons. Did you consider both? The price isn't far apart so I thought the extra stop worthwhile. Cheers, Joel

I have Summiluxes 24 and 50 for that.

250swb Posted June 14, 2013 Share #18 Posted June 14, 2013 It's not so much taste regarding the camera, but what are you wearing that you need to accessorise your MM with? Steve
Gerard Posted June 14, 2013 Share #19 Posted June 14, 2013 I can't help but think your choice of skin would have looked better with silver chrome. But then what do I know about taste... I keep dreaming of having my top deck engraved with a tattoo design. I guess it's lucky I neither have the time or the financial backing to explore this. :-)
Jeff S Posted June 14, 2013 Share #20 Posted June 14, 2013 Now it's literally a black and white camera, but ironically no longer monochrome. Whatever floats your boat. Jeff
