Jono: I know you cannot reveal details. Can you tell us if you will purchase one for yourself? For someone else?

Can you make any general comments on ergonomics?

Let me start with comments-

The pictures are over-exposed.

The pictures are under-exposed.

The JPEG engine is great.

The JPEG engine is lousy.

AWB is off.

AWB is great.

And finally... Focus is off.

And really, thanks for posting. The pictures do look quite nice.

:D:D

I guess that's all that needs to be said!

Or maybe he cropped them all to 16mp? We'll see in a few days.

thanks for posting

those pics are a bit soft, but I guess its jpg land which I never usually enter ;)

the resolution is 16mb, which indicates APS-C and probably a Sony sensor (no one makes a FF sensor that is 16mb to date - unless its a CMOSIS special)

bit disappointing the new 24mp sony APS-C sensor isn't in (aka the D7100) but 16mp is good enough for me

need to wait for DNG to get anything sensible

HI Paula

Certainly Not - only a new M could be fit for you.

Glad to be the cause of a laugh :)

I wish Jono! I wished I had the talent and the money for those Leica cameras. In a way I am what everyone here on this forum kind of dislikes, a garden variety learn on the job family photographer. I own a Leica minilux, Digilux 2 and an X1 so what does that tell ya :) My husband thinks this is why they named the new one Paula, Leica knows I have three of them. I keep trying to tell him I am way down the food chain. When I was young I had my Yashica and a couple of Contax cameras and quite a few Zeiss lenses but my eyes aren't too swift anymore and I kind of like how a beautiful compact camera can go ANYWHERE. I love hiking and biking without the old albatrosses on my neck and then when a person out of nowhere notices the Leica I have had the best conversations in many countries all over the world. I am the family historian and love doing it in style with my Leica. :D

So there ya have it. ~Paula

Thanks for the link.

Thanks for the pictures, they look nice indeed.

But... i'm a bit confused, it's 2013.

I was thinking that every camera that is capable of for example RAW file format and has a price in the higher range offers a decent picture quality.

That's really the last argument I want to hear,

that's a point I really think is taken for granted.

Talking about real life photography, more like taking pictures, not much analyzing the pixels.

The D7100 uses a 24MP Toshiba sensor.

my 2 ct:

it will be interesting to see how Paula will perform against the Sony RX100 that has probably the same sensor......, but at 1/5th of the price, and really pocket format.

The RX100 is my second camera when I need some zoom and video and pocket size, but normally I will be on the road with an M8:D

So, there are some positive and some negative opinions here.

If I have a look at e.g. the pic from the egs, and zoom it on my 27" iMac screen, its looks quite impressive!.

I have an Sony RX100 with most likely the mentioned 16MP APS-C sensor but when I zoom my sony pics, I cannot get that Paula quality.

Maybe it could still be a FF sensor with 24 MP, and Leica is fooling us around!

I would not be surprised next tuesday if it turns out that the specs are different compared to the ones that were mentioned here!:D:D

If this is the Mini M it might have a CMOSIS MINI sensor ...as distinct from the M 240's CMOSIS MAX sensor ... We should be aware of all possibilities ... and also take into account the gestation period for the new MINI M ie consider which sensor might have been available for it X months ago when the camera was proposed.
