Thanks, Phil. Let me show you a few more impressions from the Altiplano: This friendly gentleman, a Frenchman, was looking for a priest from his home village and took me along for a few days. We actually found the mission – an expedition into a land and a culture that left a deep impression on me.

"Fill it up, please." (1980)

Somewhere on the Altiplano, searching for the Mission.

Wonderful series Klaus, I'm looking forward to more. The Andes have a mystical quality and the people in the countryside gracious and kind.

Rog, the last two are really fantastic. The vibrant rust surface of Over Under gains a grounding presence through the mysterious, dark base ("Hic sunt monstra..."), which suits it well. And Strapper is incredible thanks to the tension-filled harmony of colors, surfaces, and textures.

Great to see something from you again.

Thanks so much, Dr. Kl@us, for your charitable comments and sending me fishing DuckDuckGo for a line on "Hic sunt monstra." Gravity pulls me toward Sir Edmund Spencer, but I try to surrender to basics of color and texture in a subliminal way. I was finally able to check off one of my wishdreams with a Rolleiwide from Marco, so I can explore more.

Sometimes the question arises whether one really belongs here—but somewhere, the day breaks again and people appear. These friendly women are selling chicha, a corn beer that’s an important drink in the Andes. It seemed to me like something between a party and a sales event.

Only experienced travelers dare to  drink it: the fermentation process is started by spitting into the corn mash.

If the purpose of a photo is to make you think, not only about the photo, but about your own life, this has to be one of the most magnificent photos I have seen. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks,

Wayne
