This is one of the famous photo spot in Singapore. A small street around Bugis with colourful repetitive entrances and stair cases. I exposed each entrance, trying to match the composition. I can't remember if it was 3 or 4 exposures...

There used to be a wonderful but very grubby restaurant called "Fatty's" in Bugis Street, where you sat on plastic chairs in the street. We got taken there in 1985, by the local directors of my brother's conference and exhibition company and we let them order for us. A spectacular whole roasted sea bass was served and the two locals were fighting for the cheeks when they suddenly realised it might seem rude, so they offered us first dibs on this apparent delicacy. We declined the privilege. My guess is that it has been long sanitised out of existence.

Thanks a lot! I want to explore more of these. Any photographers I can look at for inspiration?

There is a restaurant called ‘Wing Seong Fatty’s Restaurant’ not far away. However this is quite fancy and definitely sanitised.

If you have happen to have some photos from your trip I’d love to see how it looked at the time.

Thanks!

I frequently go on Twitter and look at photos called Holgaramas. Many and varied people post there. It’s a different technique to multiple single frame stretching perhaps two or three frames of ‘microclicks’. Multiple or double exposures on single fames are also easily found just by typing in the search bar. I can get lost there for ages.

Charles, I am in awe of this fine photograph. You have sculpted in light, choosing a favourable viewpoint and emphasizing the way her hair delicately frames her face and upper body. The lighting in this is incredible. Even down to your choice to use film which gives it that softer tonal transition that digital struggles with. A marvelous, masterful portrait.
