Popular Post Aryel Posted October 3, 2023 Popular Post Share #88024  Posted October 3, 2023 (edited) Tried some Wolfen NC 500 film. Not what I expected at all, at least in poor light. Will be more careful when exposing next time. Still like some of the images for their gritty look. Welcome, dear visitor! Homage Mark Tansey, yet the whole history of image making, the residence of two chairs, and the ghost of Durer's perspective woodcut in the presence of a laptop. It's about that forlorn tree in the snowfield, so imperative. Truly, one of your most heroic. 4

Popular Post Ouroboros Posted October 5, 2023 Popular Post Share #88038  Posted October 5, 2023 (edited) Abandoned croft house and weaving shed, Isle of Harris. There are many similar abandoned houses on the Islands in all states of dereliction.  Traditionally the house will have been passed on to the eldest, usually male, relative of the former owner.  Many of these buildings are in the ownership of absent inheritors who may live overseas in places like Canada, Tasmania & Australia and may never even visit the Islands or see the property they own. Some of the croft houses are time capsules inside with personal belongings of the former owner, intact and still in place. A few years ago I was talking to the owner of a renovated croft house at Huisinis in the northwest of Harris who had hitchhiked from his native Redditch in the West Midlands to the Island as a 17 year old in the 1960’s.  He was taken on as an apprentice joiner shortly after he arrived on Harris.  He saw the house, derelict with a tree growing out of the roof and made some enquiries about it.  He managed to track down the owner/inheritor, an elderly lady living in New York who had never been to the Western Isles and had no intention of coming here. He made her an offer for the ruin, which she accepted. He persuaded his girlfriend in Redditch to join him and they spent several years repairing and renovating the house and eventually they raised a family there.   Hasselblad 503cw Zeiss 80mm planar Cfi Tri-X in XT-3 Welcome, dear visitor!
