Clearly the young Jean Seberg in a prequel to " Breathless" . Guess Jean Paul is not far away,  just waiting  to enter the frame on his  tricycle.....😄

For the exhibition in Ballarat both Ashleigh and I had one of our photos blown up to 1.5 X 1 meters and hung at the entrance. This was the picture I chose. The drum-scanned Tri-X image taken with the 90mm summicron looked fantastic at that size, even from close range (still does - I still have it):

"We haven’t seen Amanda in our community for some time but others tell us she is o.k. and doing well."

These are really outstanding. This last one really makes me wonder about Amanda’s story. Such a striking facial expression, it is hard to interpret.

Thanks a lot for sharing!

Thank you so much Aryel. Amanda's story, like the stories of so many people we encountered there, was not a happy one. Heroin addiction, prostitution and violence were just some of the demons she was battling. I found her a very warm, intelligent and caring person, though very wary, especially of men which I respected and understood. Unfortunately we couldn't convince her to travel up to view the exhibition, and we lost contact after that.

Photography has been, for me, the passport into the lives of people such as Amanda who I'd never have encountered without it. A gift, a blessing. Perhaps most of all a responsibility.

RoBoT Star 25, Schneider Xenagon 3.5/30, APX 100

I cannot switch the Nikon- Scanner to make smaller steps than 36x24, so the RoBoT- Negs are cut. But sometimes I like this view.

A fitting entree to the exhibition, Phil.  An arresting portrait and armed with a little background knowledge of Amanda’s life it’s also a powerful reminder of how anyone of us at any time, regardless of social standing, is only one step away from personal chaos.  Congratulations!

Thanks so much Steve. You are so right, it doesn't take much to upset the balance and for good people find themselves in bad situations. The project certainly brought that home to me very clearly, and it's a lesson that has stayed with me. Another salient lesson was/is that there are very good people who are there to lend a shoulder and help people who are in need.
