Possibly my best shot ever. Accidental double exposure from Hodge Close Quarry, Lake District, UK.
Gandolfi 4x5, Nikkor SW 90 f8, Portra 400 (the colour was rubbish, so I converted to mono).

This is just fantastic, Paul - in two senses of the word. Fantastic because it's, well, fabulous; and fantastic because it makes no sense whatsover yet it all somehow fits and seems to be some surreal, as Rog says, crazy Uelsmann-like landscape. And those two figures are truly the icing on this delicious soul-food cake! If you wouldn't mind performing more "mistakes" like this, please bring 'em on!

No idea what you did, but it is indeed fantastic. Gandalf and his hobbits would like it! And so do I.

Eat your heart out, Jerry Uelsmann. Accidental on purpose, don't tell. Would it be queer to query the quarry in the quarry? This is getting very Tarkovsky, so you need to put everyone on a "need-to-know" status, since it would be safe to assume that no one needs to know. It's all too frightening in the Pandemic Pit.

Thanks, guys, though I feel guilty at accepting your accolades (no, I don't, really!).

The location is two quarries separated by a wall within which there are two arches. The further quarry is actually a much deeper shaft filled with water. I took several shots around the quarry: one from the rim (seen through the RH arch), one from inside the LH arch looking across the water, and one looking at the two arches (I asked two strangers to stand where they were for a moment while I took the shot). Counting my film holders, I realised I'd exposed one twice (forgotten to reverse the slide), but didn't know which two shots were overlaid (poor record keeping - another newbie failure). So I went back and repeated all three. I have only just discovered the result. And it's the best of all of them!

Wow, what strikes me is the fact the HE is holding the cable release taking back the control of his life, his self image etc.  Fabulous and really sensitive.
