James, tell me: what do I need to do to my camera exactly, to get such results ? " Beating and bruising "  is way too unspecific.... 😇

To specify my description here a picture of the lens. As you can see, it has more than the occasional cleaning mark. It looks as if someone either tried to clean the lens with sand paper or to glue something on the front element with super glue. I wasn't ware how much damage a front lens element can take, till I saw this article: https://www.lensrentals.com/blog/2008/10/front-element-scratches/

Its their eyes that give my heart a lurch and then the smiles that comfort my soul. Such fabulous portraits from Mozambique!

Some Spring colour:  flowers taken with a Leica M3 and collapsible Summicron 50 mounted on a SOMKY at closest distance (about 30cm) and f/2.8 on Fuji Superia 400.

Here's what the Summicron and SOMKY looks like (almost but not quite a DR Summicron):  enables rangefinder focusing down to the MFD of about 30cm.

Very nice results with this setup, John! The Fuji colors are really appealing.

Indeed.  Before I discovered digital for working in dim light, I used Superia 100, 400, 800 and 1600.  For "consumer" films, I always found the Fuji emulsions excellent for scanning.  Something about the claimed "fourth colour layer" perhaps?

Ken, I think you can be quite at peace with the outcome.... a sunny seaside begs for compromises--or, to put it the other way round...just decide what's important for your idea and put your 5 there.... In this case, the dark shadow, in my opinion is perfect. It´s what we see under these circumstances: in the shadows nothing...

Another question, just curious, as I'm in no way familiar with the chemistry of developers: what's behind the idea of mixing HC110 and Rodinal ?

Well, these are sort of Pandemic Portraits. Candy, No is a candy store that went out of business, and now there's very much a morgue vibe that's very disheartening. The windows were filled with the riotous colors of candy, and now there's only the presence of absence. Candy, no--children, no. Parties, no. Waiting for the next candy store. What's in store, goes the chorus? Not the calamitous chorus of COVID19, let's pray. Let's give Nurse Ratched a sabbatical.

James, I don't know how's the overall condition of the R-S´Cron--but if the front lens is the only problem you might consider to call the CS in Wetzlar. I had a 35mm R-S´Cron with a scratched rear lens--they found a spare lens, cla ed the whole thing and it was about 250 €.
