It is curious how a thread on a Leica forum about the joys of shooting film so often drifts towards medium-format (a space Leica did not occupy before the advent of the digital S series).  Anyone who worked with landscape, formal portraiture, fashion or weddings in the pre-digital era will remember taking the "minature" format for reportage, candid etc and the Hasselblad or Rollei or Bronnie or Kowa (maybe even Pentax or East German SLR depending on the weight) for the "serious" stuff.  The really serious photographers were lugging 5x4 or even 10x8 cameras into the field (I know at least one who still does).

I have to confess that, since 10-year-old Phase One backs became affordable (25 or 30 MPixel CCD replaced currently by 100MPixel or more CMOS), I haven't put much in the way of 120 film through anything.  Here is something from the "dusty negatives" department:  Hasselblad 500C/M, Planar 2.8/80 on Fuji NPH400, scanned at a relatively low resolution on a Nikon Coolscan 8000  (a bit of dust on its mirror showed how important the scanning process becomes when working in the hybrid film/digital space).

Another Hasselblad sample:  Autumn Reeds with the 500C/M, Zeiss Planar 2.8/80 on Fuji Superia 100, scanned to a relatively low 16Mpixel on a Nikon Coolscan 8000.  There is something about the way the 80mm lens draws that is just charming.

So this is given extra time in the developer, Ken? Highlights and shadows look in perfect balance here - there is so much detail in those shadows!
