Rog, this is beautiful-and mysterious. It's not shouting,  it´s whispering... a parchment with a message yet to be deciphered..

Perfect Phil !  The shine of the wet brick road  adds a sublime touch to the scene..

I appreciate your "whispering" characterization because it's one of those images, so quiet, that I ignored for a good while--basically one-dimensional perspective, though there's layering with the scrim fencing and the chain link. The jury is still out on this one, but I decided to give it a reserved vote of confidence. Maybe it would work at 40"x60", fitting into that category of "anything that's big has to be art." Ha, ha, ha.

The scrim fencing  at the top end didn't escape me, it is a sobering end to the dreamy start-if you begin to "read" it at the bottom end. Or vice versa. Without the scrim this would be-maybe- too quiet.

Anyway, I think "Scrim" would work in any size; but "small" would be the starting point for me. Usually, I am a bit cautious with large  formats ( Gursky, I am looking at you ! ) because too often lack of substance is hidden under crushing  surface area.

But then, G.Richter made these beautiful but still overwhelming huge "8 Grays ".....

...and what a lovely, order-in-disorder forest we have here, as if the trunks are milling about, striking chic poses, waiting for the observant photographer to find them. So Italian.

It occurs to me, Klaus, that we may have been criss-crossing Tuscany at about the same time...

Thank you, Phil.  Maybe I was a little bit later than you and only for two weeks.... But what a lovely idea to imagine our ways crossing, wives go shopping and us having  a nice and proper photo-walk. And for me to finally find out why your  pictures always look sharper, more colorful, just better.... 😯

The pineta is near Porto di Ercole in Southern Tuscany.
