philipus Posted September 1, 2021 Share #77262 Posted September 1, 2021 Something far more devious – documents The building was constructed in the 1950s as the new HQ for a Dutch insurance company and this was one of the vault areas. As that little feeble wooden ramp indicates the door wasn't used for the cellblock, but was retained as the building had to remain in 'original condition' as much as possible due to its protected status as a 'rijksmonument'. I suspect it was kept also because it would not fit in the lift. The whole building would probably have to be dismantled to remove it 9 hours ago, Kl@usW. said: Wow, Philipus. Did they do an exhibition or is this more than temporary ? Thank you Klaus! He stayed there in 1981 and even wanted to do something with plants in Gibellina But as far as I understood, it wasn't finished. The exhibition on the piazza is permanent like many other pieces of art in the town but there are also several temporary exhibitions and events during the summer. In the winter they took place in Gibellina vecchia, which is more famous.

Popular Post MikeMyers Posted September 2, 2021 Popular Post Share #77273 Posted September 2, 2021 1960's, New York. I was part of a "work study program" with the Brooklyn Navy Yard and the University of Michigan, studying Naval Architecture. We learned that an aircraft carrier was coming into the port for work - I believe it was the Essex, CVS 9. I went to the New York piers, and there was a boat loading professional photographers to get photos, and somehow I got them to allow me on board. I took lots of photos of the Essex, and gave the photos to the people I worked with, as the photos showed things they were most interested in. During the boat ride though, I also photographed things that I was fascinated by, knowing I'd probably never get another chance. This is probably a boring photo of a tugboat, but it's a style that is now extinct. New tug boats are very different. The negative somehow got something like "grease" or "oil" on it while sitting for half a century in the glassine envelope - I wiped it off, and amazing the negative cleaned off nicely. I scanned it at the same settings I've been using, low contrast, and tried to adjust it in DxO PhotoLab4 so the histogram covered the full range - but it didn't look right, so I put it back where it was. The "blacks" were fine, but the whites never reached the right end of the histogram. As a test, I adjusted the highlights, to fill in the histogram, and this is the result. It was a cloudy, hazy day, and I probably used whatever light meter I was using way back then. The camera and lens were my Leica M2 and 50mm Summicron, as that's all I had back then. I rather like the end result! Welcome, dear visitor! Popular Post Kl@usW. Posted September 2, 2021 Popular Post Share #77275 Posted September 2, 2021 Back home. There is a cycling path along the river. Whenever I come along the Bauhaus Sluice heads, I feel tempted to make another photo. Usually I can't resist.... This one was taken with the humble Chinon Bellami. I gave this camera to my father in law about 1990..now it came back to me. Boxed, unused and as new... I just had to clean the contacts. Welcome, dear visitor! Popular Post MikeMyers Posted September 2, 2021 Popular Post Share #77277 Posted September 2, 2021 1960's, Ann Arbor, Michigan. I had gone to the train station to take a photo of the new "Streamliner" trains that had just been introduced, traveling between Detroit and Chicago. I found a place to shoot the new train, as the crew of a freight train were also checking it out from their caboose. Camera was Leica M2, with 50mm Summicron. The negative was scanned in my new Plustek OpticFilm, and then processed in VueScan. (I haven't even opened the Silverfast software that came "free" with the scanner.) Interesting that when I reviewed the negatives, there was only one image from each location. With digital I would have taken several. I wish it had been a "Kodak Perfect" day, with fluffy white clouds in a dark sky, but there was no selector for a "replacement sky" back then - thankfully!! Welcome, dear visitor! This camera??? https://www.35mmc.com/23/05/2019/chinon-bellami-mini-review/ Wow! Yes, exactly. The lens is quite sharp-if the program chooses an aperture small enough. I guess it´s a kind of Triotar lens. Since there is only the automatic mode its a good idea to take a fast film. Don´t think, shoot says the DNA of this camera.
