I thought I was happy to be back using 35mm film with a dedicated 35mm film scanner, cameras and lenses. And then I dug up some old images I'd made with a Rolleflex TLR on Fujichrome and I was flooded with doubts !   I don't really want to go and invest in 6x6 film equipment, starting from scratch - but there's just nothing quite like it. Help me !!!

Sorry Mr P, there is little we can do, this M/F-Itis seems incurable. I suffer it as well, and to further exacerbate it, have been using a half-frame Pen FT recently. This only seems to make it worse. Give in, buy a 6x6, or 6x whatever. Just don't expect others like Klaus, or Ken to be of any help, they are hopelessly inflicted as well.

I may actually buy another--one set permanently for 120 and one for 135 (lazy as I am to adjust it).

Allthough i have one holder and both masks, i would buy another one too if i had a mf camera.
They are absolutly worth the money.
Perhaps i will tune them with 4 rubber feet so they keep better their position on the lighttable.

true, true. Resist as you might, Mr. P., the Dark Side will win you over, Luke!  In the meantime, for a quick and amazingly cheap fix and a lot of fun, get a Holga!

Simple one. Get the Holga and digitize the film--or have it done. Enjoy. There is nothing like a nice and sharp  MF negative--or slide.  That done, browse the bay for  the  next step. Repeat... 😁. If any questions remain: we are happy to help.

Hello Klaus, thank you!
I used the essential film holder and the MFT Panaleica 45mm macro lens for digitising with my G9.
For the shot on my M3 i used the 50 summicron and Portra 400.

I can't sing the praises too highly of the essential film holder (I was one of Andrew's earliest customers). I may actually buy another--one set permanently for 120 and one for 135 (lazy as I am to adjust it).

Thank you, verwackelt and bags27. I bought the lomography holders when I was fed up with the Braun FS 120 ( seems to be the same as the Reflecta 5000 and both  a relabeled PIE product) The lomography holders are much better than the Braun FS holders--but I´ll give the Essentials a look. Thanks. Btw: I'm digitizing with my Canon 5D4, the Canon Macro 100 on a Kaiser Slim lite and never looked back..

I am now the happy owner of a ”new” Leica M4. Following this thread and digging into all old archive negs has been so inspiring. I just could not resist the temptation to go back. I’m an old nostalgic fool, but why not enjoy all what you can in these horrible isolation times. I posted a picture in the Leica film camera thread. ”Back to basics”.  :))

Brilliant stuff, and thank you for the explanation. I have never tried Orwo films but I must do so.

I work in a building next to this wormhole and I always wonder when it will be absorbed by this. They are doing no more repairs and so it looks like we are on the way. Formerly there was an huge industrial complex at this place and that's may be a small bit was is left of it, but seemed like there is constant change and growing going on there and more and more new stuff appeared. Mother nature has also taken a bit of it back. I mix up a bit of photochemical home-brew stuff to make the ORWO even more magic, but truly it is without any doubt. NP15 is one of the nicest films I know.
As long as we are not absorbed by the wormhole I will continue taking pictures of it.

Here is another one from this scenery:

Toyo View 810, 300 mm, ClassicPan 400 18 x 24 cm, D-96 special

Hahaha what a shot!

Nope Mr Prime, you won't get any support from me to stop :D Just sell whatever digital stuff you have and buy some MF gear and film and then waste hours in this thread.

I liked the result with the Contax II/Sonnar/Portra 160 so much, I had to go back with the Ultimate Point and Shoot Camera (Ic) and give it a go. I am not disappointed. The camera, Ic, has just been sent off to DAG for surgery, wherein he will install low shutter speed hardware, giving me speeds from 1/20 to 1 second. Now I am limited to 1/20 at the low end.  I can hardly wait for that transformation to be completed.

Ic, 28/6.3 Hektor, Foma 400 shot at 1600.

I can understand why. These are amazing photos.

Continuing the trip to SF in 2001, here's a classic terrible tourist shot, converging verticals and all. And of course some trees.

Don't you really think that it's San Francisco that is naturally a converging vertical?

The Summaron 2/8 35 is my favorite lens when I'm biking-small enough for the pack. Had a Summaron 5,6/ 28 for a while--but there was always a finger in front of the lens.... 😅
