Rog, thank you for your thoughtful response--to my clumsy response to Tethers III.

Actually I wasn't aware of Kleins ideas about bars and prison windows- I'm not that educated. I just recognized the ! blue and the pattern reminded me of prison bars. So that started a film of poor Yves being in a prison cell and him requesting urgently  a more adequate accomodation--at least having the bars  painted  blue... Sorry for the simplicity of the plot. And than I thought about what  other artists would do to their cells...and that sent me to Jackson (Pollock) and what would he do to make him feel at home in that cell... ☺️.

All artists seem to be in a prison of sorts, always looking for a way out, resorting to creative solutions. I really like your scenario, though, because it is so cinematic! I think we could get Brad Pitt to play Klein, and talk Leonardo DiCaprio into shaving his head, somewhat, to play Pollock. We have got to be talking total greenlight on this project, provided that Brad and Leonardo are not already committed to another project in Hollywood. Is Tarantino sniffing in the wind? That doesn’t say we can’t do some heavy damage with a couple of iPhones on YouTube. All we really need is a good solid theme song, lyrical with overtones of circus, perhaps early Nino Rota? See what kind of trouble your creative mind he is launching. I wonder what Rooney Mara is doing, available or no. The total production in Klein blue.

Don't really think this flies, but I dropped one of my Apple iPhone airbuds (the new model that is supposed to stay in your ear better 😤) in the swampy water in the process of making this, and it was a bitch to fish out, so I am somewhat emotionally attached at the moment 😡

I hear you, gurgle-gurgle. Still, this is borderline color Gothic. Delicious.

This scene - which many will immediately recognize - is facing the opposite end of the lower passage under the Bethesda Court that I shared earlier this week.  I made use of the rise feature of the lens shift adapter that I have on my 90mm lens in order to raise the view so that more of the beautiful ceiling and less of the floor was shown (while keeping the verticals straight).  It is a beautiful room to be in and a central park favorite of so many new yorkers (and others).  I was happy to be able to get some Fall foliage in the background, which I think adds some interest.  I thought the Ektar handled the artificial and natural light inter-play very well.

I could easily have captured this with my Hassy or 6x9 Linhof, but a substantial crop would have been involved.  With the 6x17 there is ZERO crop.  😛

I was thinking of going back this weekend with some B&W film.  Any suggestions?  I was thinking Delta 100 to smooth out the deep shadows and highlights and maximize the midtones.  I could, however, see a strong rendition with deeper blacks, perhaps with Tmax 100 or even Tri-X.  Thoughts?

Yesterday I saw that this beautiful place was also a location in "John Wick". But in your version, the floor is not bloody red anymore 😉

Pentax 67II & Tri-x

Arresting psychological sketch, not just a pedestrian portrait. The directness, the sense of history, the one on one, the language of the interlocked fingers--all working in the now. The 6x7 asymmetrical composition, the tilted head pose, the sense of depth with the noir blacks, the DOF, all deserving more than faint applause. Waiting for encore work.

Excellent, James.  What paper did you use?

Thank you, Adam! I checked all the papers and printing options in their Berlin store and opted for a print on Hahnemühle Pearl paper, as I thought the structure of this papers fits an analog print perfectly. I wasn't sure if my decision for the simple floating glass would be right, but didn't want to pay another 45€ extra for the museum glass with antireflection. I found out that it is absolutely perfect with the cheaper glass, as there are no disturbing reflections on the picture at the point it is hanging now. The end result is definitely convincing :)

Perfect even without a bird or a boat, Klaus ;)

Others have praised this picture much better, than I could do, so a big applause from me must do...

Love the massiveness of those boulders, Klaus.  They look like they could lose their footing ay any moment! 😲

I tried meandering--I wanted to in the worst way--but I couldn't get pass the CHECKPOINT! Peter Lorre had the Letters of Transit, and he was mum about their whereabouts.
