stray cat Posted November 15, 2017 Share #42561 Posted November 15, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Really like the use of flash in this shot. It enhances the documentary look. Thanks a lot, Edward. Mary Ellen was pretty keen on the idea of fill flash. This was taken pretty late in the day, though, so it didn't hurt to light up some of the interior of the Tuk Tuk either.

A miller Posted November 15, 2017 Share #42562 Posted November 15, 2017 This is a wonderful photo, Bob. Such a peaceful scene. The Parish Church, Kalkara, Malta .... CANON EOS 5-1000599.jpg EOS 5, EF 70-300 IS, Ilford Pan F 50, Ilfosol 3 1:14 Very lovely, Klaus. Something about the bursting trees on the left and single tiny cow on the right is quite gripping from a composition perspective. Keith (M) Posted November 15, 2017 Share #42569 Posted November 15, 2017 An early birthday present arrived yesterday, so had to test it just to make sure all is OK... A 21-35mm Vario Elmarit-R Unfortunately it was a very grey and dull day, but armed with a roll of HP5+ in my R5, I sallied forth. Three examples below, undoubtedly there will be more to follow! Be interested to hear what you think of it Keith, I currently have fixed 24/35/50/90 only, and this wide zoom has been on the radar for a while. Right now the Vario Sonnar on the N1 is doing great but......... Gary

Right now the Vario Sonnar on the N1 is doing great but......... Gary Early days yet Gary, but first impressions (on M240 as well as R5) are very positive. After all, according to Erwin Puts this is one of the few zooms where performance is at least on a par with the equivalent primes. If f3.5 / f4 is sufficient then it becomes an easy choice. gbealnz Posted November 15, 2017 Share #42579 Posted November 15, 2017 Still be keen to hear the thoughts, after a while Keith. I agree, if you are happy at f3.5-4, then apart from the size all is good in the world. I had the much maligned 28-70 on my R8 for a while (both sold), and it was a nice kit, handled most that I needed. If the lens worked on my Leicaflex SL (it was a ROM lens) I'd still have it. Michael Hiles Posted November 15, 2017 Share #42580 Posted November 15, 2017 This is a place called Crescent Island, on Lake Naivasha, near Nairobi, Kenya. Due to low lake levels the island is now a peninsula. This area is privately owned and run as a game sanctuary. There are a quite wide variety of animals, including Giraffes like this fellow, who are not nervous of people. Some of the film "Out Of Africa" was filmed here. I made a silver print of this picture this morning - quite nice. First time using my recently acquired Analyzer Pro from RH designs. Very useful and sophisticated bit of technology.
