The 60mm Distagon CB that I took delivery of recently looks like it will usurp the 80mm Planar on my Hasselblad 500C.  Another Portra 400 shot at Lacock Abbey at the end of December.

Not need a H1D for photo and keep the money , the proof by your picture.

The clarity ,the luminosity ,the contrast and the "soft" definition are superb !

Thanks

Lovely colours and nice composition Henry.

I am sucker for the saturated colour palette of the Fuji film stock :-)

Adam this open market isn't in Jerusalem  but Marseille , south of France.

People look now for fresh vegetables directly coming from farm in the region

without pesticides.

Sales direct from farmers to consumers . I think it's a same thing in Jerusalem.

Hi Henry - That is a really lovely vegetable stand but if I may say so the Mehane Yehuda market in Jerusalem is really one of the world's largest and most interesting outdoor and semi-outdoor markets in the world in terms of sheer volume, diversity, quality and price point.  In addition to farm fresh fruits and vegetables, it has the city's best cafes and restaurants and other finger-licking fresh food stands, artisan cheese shops, wine shops, clothing boutiques, jewelry shops, housewares, barbers and salons, bakeries, and more bakeries galore, butchers, fish markets, spice shops, news stands, etc...

Its reputation is perhaps rivaled only by the traditional souks in Morocco.

Just look at the sprawling nature of the market...   :)

Lovely, Steve.

Tell me about the XPan.  Do you like it?  Does it give you enough resolution?   What are the best lenses for it?

I am just asking b/c somebody  that I know asked me about it the other day.....

Thanks Adam.

Ah, the XPan 2.  I could write reams about this camera! Beautiful, solid construction, innovative and fun, switchable between standard 35mm format to 'panoramic' format on the hoof, but why would you want to shoot 35mm with this!  Available lenses are 30mm, 45mm and 90mm and you will need the centre graduated filter, especially if shooting transparency film.  Format is 24x65mm (not 2x 35mm frames stitched together as one 'expert' on this forum was putting about in a previous thread about the XPan some time ago).

To cut to the chase, I no longer have an XPan 2.  I sold it a long time ago.  It's a brilliant camera for travel photography, as an example use, but ultimately crippled by it's own small format at the kind of enlargements you ought to be making with it for impact.  You can crop other formats, such as 6x9 and upwards, to a similar aspect ratio and have a 'medium format' quality with the result.  There is absolutely no comparison with XPan frames against 6x12cm & 6x17cm formats.  Once you've used either of those, XPan frames just aren't in the game.

Lovely camera, but not for ultimate image quality.
