EoinC Posted October 13, 2016 Share #22442 Posted October 13, 2016 Eoin I like much this picture for the concentration and the seriousness of our photographer Well captured attitude Eoin. Very nice b&w with beautiful grain Thanks for posting Kowa is a 6x6 MF ? Best Henry Thanks, Henry. Yes, the Kowa is a 6x6. It has a nice 85mm f/2.8 lens (lenses are Kowa's core business), and is similar to a V-series Hasselblad, except that it does not have a separate film magazine. This one I bought in 1983 for AUD $200, if i recall correctly. It has spent the last 20 years in a cupboard.
Stealth3kpl Posted October 13, 2016 Share #22443 Posted October 13, 2016 I used to have a Kowa Six. It and it's lenses were excellent. They are a real bargain. Pete

gbealnz Posted October 14, 2016 Share #22447 Posted October 14, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yeah, more "pop" with Velvia, but then again, you'd sort of expect that perhaps? Could the saturation not be turned up a tad also on the Portra shot, making them similar? Just asking. Gary
A miller Posted October 14, 2016 Share #22448 Posted October 14, 2016 Yeah, more "pop" with Velvia, but then again, you'd sort of expect that perhaps? Could the saturation not be turned up a tad also on the Portra shot, making them similar? Just asking. Gary You might think I might be able to equalize the renditions, but the Portra 160 is just natively so much warmer than the velvia 50 such that it was like fitting a round peg through a square hole; so I stopped trying...
Doc Henry Posted October 14, 2016 Author Share #22449 Posted October 14, 2016 Here is another side by side comparison of a cactus photo with two different films - interesting how the films impact the reds First is Velvia 50 SWC cactus portra 160 and velvia.jpg Now with Portra 160 SWC cactus portra 160 and velvia-2.jpg Adam thanks again for your nice cactus pictures I think it has a little difference between Velvia and Portra for yellow green and specially red. Both have nice color more vivid for red in V. but a little more defined for Portra (look at the edge of the "fruit") or may be it comes from the scan (same scanner?) , I don't think so ? gbealnz Posted October 14, 2016 Share #22452 Posted October 14, 2016 Hasselblad X-Pan with TMax400 Don't take this as a criticism please, but is that the same "agitation issue" you had with the Minilux recently JB? Have you tried any other processing since the "solutions" put forward after your post? Gary P.S, it's still a wonderful albeit busy shot, I like it, it made me look closely to see what was what.

christoph_d Posted October 14, 2016 Share #22458 Posted October 14, 2016 Hasselblad X-Pan with TMax400 I quite like the picture. The central position of the child, the movement towards the camera and the position of the arms immediately made me think of Nick Ut's picture of the Viatnamese girl. Luckily this picture is taken in happier circumstances. The Umbrella in the foreground and the spaced ones moving towards the horizon add some nice depth.
