With film, most my shots seem to feel an experiment   :)  I think it's also part of the attraction to film, for me.

I find three of the outstanding characteristics of the Rollei 35 cameras are:

Firstly that they can always be with you they are so small.

Secondly, people hardly notice them and if they do they don't take them seriously.

Thirdly I have the tendency to experiment more using a Rollei than a "serious" Leica.

Here a shot from the first category. It was the Rollei with the Tessar and you can notice some Barrel distortion.

yep, Gary, you're 100% right.  This was shot wide open at 5.6, with the DOF calculated to only put the first salt-berg in focus.  While I nailed the DOF, you've confirmed my sense that the vision that I had was not adequately realized.  I don't think the electrical wires kill the shot on their own, but the distraction of the out of focus background is indeed enhanced by them.  All in all, not a keeper.  And thanks for your input.

Let me thrown another one at you that I am on the fence on....

This one may be nicer than the previous picture

You know why ? :D

Well-known and interesting accessory, but I never felt at difficulty with SWC's native viewfinder. Its role has always been a rough composition, the rest is done by Biogon's ultra large depth of field, even wide open (f4.5) plus the photographer's instinct. There is an aura of mystery with SWC's shots I don't want to lose.

HI Paul...for hand held use I feel the Voigtlander finder allows me to obtain different angles and perspectives much easier than the standard finder; especially when I'm shooting from angles at or below the hips.  I've used both and see no loss of that aura of mystery ;)  I believe it makes the SWC a much more versatile tool and so much fun to shoot.

As an example, I would have had to lay down on my back to take this shot with the standard finder...with the Voigtlander, I just had to crouch down a little.

Very cinematic shot Klaus (and with a great lens :) ) How did you develop the Tmax?

I like it Christoph, very dreamlike (and excellent halos too).

How was the Peter Lindbergh exhibition btw?

Here a shot from the third category

Thanks for the nice remarks.

I went today and really liked the Peter Lindbergh exhibition in Rotterdam.

While fashion photography is not my favourite type of photography, the pictures

on exhibition seem quite "natural" and not as sterile as those type of pictures

often do. I'd definitely recommend a visit.

Best regards

I can see both sides. In my case it is the aura, simply as it is the finder I have, and the costs of the CV equivalent is similar to the cost of the camera, something I can do without.
