I agree with you Chris; principle could play a part, too, at least today. Or it's just that we love smell of fixer in the morning. It smells like...photography :D

Anyway, at the risk of lowering the level too far, here's another shot, from Budva in Montenegro.

Got the focus perfect too Philip.

Well done.

Tried a roll of colour neg myself recently, in the R8, and predominantly with the R28-70 zoom.

I like this combo, what you see is what you get, and auto if you want, I tend to use it either manual, or aperture priority.

I must say that I really like the slower transition from in-focus to out-of-focus with this lens.  It imparts a roundness to objects that I really appreciate.  Shame that f/1.4 is like shooting through vaseline, but everything has its downside I suppose.  :D

The Pentax K2 arrived at 4.30pm today, so no pictures from it, yet. A very elegant black paint camera with a couple of tiny spots of brassing despite being 40 years old. Two or three broken fingernails and half an hour of cursing tells me all the reviewers were right in complaining about setting the ASA. And just when I was falling for the FM3a! It's like having an old girlfriend turn up just after you proposed to the new one. Ah - what would I know about that? Not so much - I'm just lucky to have the choice.

Well, it certainly goes a bit quiet without the Chief here, I hope SE Asia is being kind to him.

I've been shooting the Hellebores in the garden, with both film, and the T, using the same lens though. Not sure which I prefer, but I do know which is easier.

Great-looking apples Chris. Is HC-110 your preferred developed for XP2? I have a story that's not too dissimilar from what you write about old girlfriends. Those were the days.

I also like this one Steve, including that you shot it at an angle.

What film and developer did you use Tony? I think it looks like a good combo, whatever it is. Incidentally I'm currently not far from Nienburg, visiting family around Detmold. Small world.

A few more

Budva | Flickr

A bit of luck with this one, as I shot it on Superia 400 at EI100 while walking using a fairly wide aperture on the 50/1.4A and one of the faster speeds.

Buza, Dubrovnik | Flickr

Buza is a bar in Dubrovnik which is perched on a few cliffs outside the city walls towards the water. Today it's unpleasantly full of tourists but 15 years ago when I went the first time it was very different, a bit more like the mood of this photo. Velvia 100 with the 50 Summilux.

This is Cunard's Queen Victoria leaving the Kotor Bay, also 50/1.4A on Superia 400 at EI100.
