hsw Posted April 4, 2007 Share #4 Posted April 4, 2007 Looks like these might be very nice but the posted images are all wrong. New meaning for "mega-pixel"! The images need to be at 72ppi, try reposting. Cheers, Henry
Photoskeptic Posted April 4, 2007 Share #5 Posted April 4, 2007 As long as you keep shooting your wife in your images you'll always have a winner:)
carstenw Posted April 4, 2007 Share #6 Posted April 4, 2007 Bruce, the JPG artifacts in these otherwise ineresting images is horrific. How did you size them?
stunsworth Posted April 4, 2007 Share #7 Posted April 4, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) You need to post larger images - larger file size that is, not pixels. The ones you've posted range from 40k to 65k and that's just too small. At that size there's a huge amount of compression going on, hence the pixilation and smearing. You should aim at around 150k + for reasonable image quality. Ppi has no meaning on an image viewed in a web browser, it's the number of pixels that matters. An image could be at 1 ppi or 1000 ppi and would display in an identical fashion online. They've put the railings around Morrison's grave since I was last there. I went to see it once and then never bothered again, I always felt there were far better things to photograph in Pere La Chaise :-) I'm off to France myself tomorrow, so expect some from me too :-)
chris_tribble Posted April 4, 2007 Share #8 Posted April 4, 2007 Just back from France - a popular place. M8 all the way (28 f2 cron + 50 lux as the main lenses as I was travelling light) It worked. Shots at From the Sarthe to the Pyrennees - a short journey. Off to Northern Ireland for paid work tomorrow. The M8's the main camera. It's beginning to pay for itself. Life's good and spring's here. Steve - enjoy the break. Best

Photoshop. >Image >Image Size >uncheck "Resample" and change resolution to 72ppi. >Check "Resample and change size to maximum 900 pixels (longest dimension) >Save For Web >Use "Quality" slider to get image below 245k. Save and post.
intex Posted April 4, 2007 Share #11 Posted April 4, 2007 May I ask what town the 2nd,3rd and last photo were in? Rouen ?
carstenw Posted April 4, 2007 Share #12 Posted April 4, 2007 Bruce, I personally use Lightroom's export, but have also used Photoshop CS2 and Photoshop Elements. All are fine, but it is important not to go too low on the quality slider. I use 75%, IIRC, at 800 pixels for the max dimension, and these images are compact enough for this forum, at least.
