stunsworth Posted May 21, 2013 Author Share #21 Â Posted May 21, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Anyone tried the Flickr Uploadr yet? And do you know if the Aperture uploader is affected? Or are those just design changes? Â The Lightroom uploader is still workking - I uploaded a photo this morning to test it. Since there's been no recent update to Lightroom I'd expect Aperture to still work as that indicates that the underlying API for posting photographs is unchanged. danvanmoll Posted May 21, 2013 Share #22  Posted May 21, 2013 I am not 8 years old. Shame the developers are.Regards, Bill  I get your point, but seriously.. It's not really a factor. I mean.. It's silly but far from being annoying IMHO.

johnwolf Posted May 21, 2013 Share #26 Â Posted May 21, 2013 I just recreated my Flickr site and structured it around collections. Collections are still present, but seem to be non-functional. There's really no obvious hierarchy or organization here. Very disappointing. Â John

rramesh Posted May 22, 2013 Share #32 Â Posted May 22, 2013 Seems that Flickr launched this new site to fire a broadside at 500px's new site and it seems to have failed. When will tech companies learn that it is not wise to launch half-finished products?
danvanmoll Posted May 22, 2013 Share #33 Â Posted May 22, 2013 Well, they gave all non-pro subscribers a free terabyte out if the sudden. But that's typical - 12.000 are crying about other stuff and all take this for granted. Â Hope they will fix the server response time. That's annoying me the most right now. bill Posted May 22, 2013 Share #35 Â Posted May 22, 2013 I genuinely don't give a flying fart how many have responded, or continue to respond at the rate of one every 3 or 4 seconds; it is hard enough to do so given that the complaints are flooding into the misnamed "Help Forum" which can hardly be accessed due to the constant loading of a vomit of images preventing scrolling down to the bottom of the page... Â I am watching a PR disaster unfold for Yahoo. They are alienating their core customer base. Â There are what, 50 million registered accounts with Flickr? Given that most of them are going to be dormant, numbers are meaningless in this context. What matters is that a platform that was photographer-friendly is being fumbled into incoherence. Wait until the ads start appearing - you know, the ones that you have to pay twice the Pro membership to stop. Wait for them to start appearing in your photostream, and those of people you are trying to look through. Money will be made, Millennials will join, then rush off to the Next Big Thing and Flickr will be no more, gone the way of Geocities, MySpace, etc.. Â We are the losers. Â RIP Flickr. Snuffed by Yahoo. As soon as ipernity allows bulk transfer from Flickr I'm gone. Â I believe the German word for all this is "verschlimmbesserung"... Â Regards, Â Bill

stunsworth Posted May 22, 2013 Author Share #37  Posted May 22, 2013 Wait for them to start appearing in your photostream, and those of people you are trying to look through. Money will be made, Millennials will join...l  I believe the technical term for the first sentence is 'straw man.  What's a 'Millenial'? I assume it's marketing speak for something, but I've never heard it before - other than in one of your earlier posts.

wattsy Posted May 22, 2013 Share #39 Â Posted May 22, 2013 It's not often I find myself in full agreement with BIll. Â Flickr was one of the few remaining classic "Web 2.0" websites which follow the much stated (though vastly under-utilised) maxim that "less is more". A layout of nice crisp, well spaced, thumbnails in an elegant grid against a white background has, overnight, turned into some grotesque mashup of Google images and the latest (and ugliest) version of Facebook. It's a deeply depressing piece of visual design and I'm genuinely surprised that anyone would think their photostream looks better with all their photographs displayed at the same height and butted up against each other. Â If you want to remind yourself how much better it looked (albeit still showing the ugly Facebook/Twitter style header) click on 'Edit'.
