algrove Posted May 10, 2013 Share #21 Posted May 10, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does it have a Leica logo on it? Logo-no. Like M9 batteries it says the following: "Li-ion BATTERY" "7.4V / 1800mAh / 13.32 Wh" "BP-SCL2" "Leica Camera" "14499" The code on the back is VKB 56429 702 096. mirekti Posted May 23, 2013 Share #22 Posted May 23, 2013 To those who already own the M, what is your experiance with the battery. How often do you need to charge it? How many actuations can one achieve on a full charge?
sanyasi Posted May 23, 2013 Share #23 Posted May 23, 2013 The answer is dependent on the use of live view and how much chimping you do. I also suspect it is influenced by your use of video, which I don't use. I tend not to use live/view, but I do chimp to see the large histogram. When I come back from a day of shooting, I have plenty of battery left--maybe 50% or more after 300 or 400 exposures--although I seem to be averaging 150 or 200 for a five or six hour day. My practice is to recharge each time I use the camera. The one time I used the EVF, it ate power. In fact if you want to completely discharge the battery, this is a fast way to do it. I did order a second battery this week from a Leica store. I ordered to have a backup rather than out of a need to switch in the middle of the day due to a dead first battery. digitalfx Posted May 23, 2013 Share #24 Posted May 23, 2013 I have similar experience as sanyasi. My battery drain at the end of the day is slightly higher, but I generally have at least 30% left after a day of shooting. Mix of EVF, LCD and rangefinder shooting. I bought two spare batts, which is what I carried with the M9 just so I was never left without power and could leave a battery on the charger and not worry about running out of power. 3 batts means I always have at least two with me at all times. Gary Clennan Posted May 23, 2013 Share #25 Posted May 23, 2013 I have found the battery life to be exceptional. I can go all day of moderate shooting and still have around 1/4 charge remaining.
