My spare battery arrived by me for a couple of seconds but the joke is, I can't us the battery because my dealer say that I can hold my M at end of the this month.

Three lenses, sparey battery and soft button smilling to me every morning, but still have no body........I can cry every morning hahaha

B&H has now listed my battery as shipped, I'll have it in 3 days but it will sit with my other battery until my camera arrives back from Solms with new or reformulated lugs. The Nikon has gotten more use than normal lately, and the colors have been disappointing. The Leica seems to deliver, both the M9 and the M, the D800 has been a disappointment.

Good news here too: my dealer called this morning saying he received *1* battery and *1* charger - and both are waiting for me to pick them up. I'd be even happier if hadn't had to send the camera on a holiday to sunny Solms to check the strap eyelets... but I guess that 3 months to be able to use a new kit dependably is not bad in Leica time.

Hi Ecar,

As my camera is away it gives me time to check the existing battery for it's ability to keep a charge. At one week the battery charger blinks twice and indicates 100%. ;)

The 3 months you refer to, is this the repair time for lugs? Leica New Jersey says 2 weeks is the official quote time but they think 3 weeks is more realistic with 4 legs of shipping.

Daryl,

No - hopefully the lug check and repair will take no more than 4 weeks all-in, as Leica Switzerland told me...

The 3 months I was referring to is the time between the moment I first got the camera (March 1st) and when I'll be able to use it dependably - ie, with a 2nd battery, a spare charger in case something happens to the original one and no more worries about it hitting the ground due to faulty strap eyelets.

4 week lug turnaround sounds realistic, I wonder if anyone has received their M from repair?

I hadn't thought about a second charger, I do have a generic charger that will likely work with these new batteries but mixing generic batteries/chargers with Leica proprietary batteries/chargers creates issues, so I won't use it.

Does it have a Leica logo on it?

I don't mind the high tag on the Leica lenses or cameras, but rebranded Olympus/Epson EVF or in this case VARTA battery and their high prices are a bit funny.;) ...or am I missing something?

I mean, are the Leica batteries so expensive due to the low number of produced items? Canikon sells them for $50. Why Leica sells it four times more expensive?

Just received my spare battery for the M240 from Stephens in Manchester. Great timing as my camera was returned from Solms the same day.

Brian - out of curiosity, how long was the turnaround from when you shipped your camera out to getting it back?
