Willy Fog Posted April 17, 2013 Author Share #22  Posted April 17, 2013 I have for sell a Rolleiflex, today one person have contacted me and told me that he would like to trade his Leica 90mm f/2.8 Elmarit-M for my Rolleiflex (750€)  I use the 35mm for everything in my Leica M6, the 90mm I'll use it occasionally. Do you think is worth it to do the trade or better to buy the collapsible for 185€uros?  Of course the lenses are different, but...  Best regards
Willy Fog Posted April 17, 2013 Author Share #23  Posted April 17, 2013 Hello,  I got the photos.  What do you think I should do?  Better to buy the Elmar for 185€uros and maybe in sometime will need CLA another 100€uros Better change the Rolleiflex for this Elmarit? Three months ago the person who wants to trade it for my Rolleiflex paid 1000€uros for it.  I will appreciate if you help me, I need to decide something this week:D  Best regards Welcome, dear visitor! earleygallery Posted April 17, 2013 Share #24 Â Posted April 17, 2013 If you don't want the Rolleiflex then compare the typical selling prices of both items, and if it seems a good deal why not? Â OTOH if it's a lens you'll only use occasionally the Elmar is a great option.
luigi bertolotti Posted April 17, 2013 Share #25  Posted April 17, 2013 This is the last Elmarit 90... a WONDERFUL lens : it's definitely MY 90 as of today ; it can be a pity to abandon an old Rolleiflex (I say this as owner of a 3,5f... unused from 5 years... but don't dare to sell it...), but the exchange is honest in term of value. And...the Elmarit M is fantastic , imho a definite step up on the Elmars : only issue : is heavy considering its aperture (and I have the chrome... even heavier than the black..)  The old Tele Elmarit was fine, and very compact in comparision... but no contest in performance at any f stop. In Ebay I saw all the prices going around 1k €  I said occasionally, but maybe when I start to use it I will love it hehehe  Regards

The Rolleiflex is a really nice camera, but I prefer to shoot only with 35mm now.  The main point is:  Trade Rollei for Elmarit Sell Rollei and buy Elmar, still having in my pocket around 550€.  How much should cost and Elmarit like this one:  http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-wiki.en/index.php/90mm_f/2.8_Elmarit-M  With leather case and in good condition. The lens appears to be from 1988. You said is honest the exchange in terms of value, so the lens should cost around 750€uros, that's what I'm asking for the Rolleiflex.  Best regards
Michael Geschlecht Posted April 18, 2013 Share #28 Â Posted April 18, 2013 Hello Willy, Â The 90mm F2.8 Elmarit-M is a better lens optically. Â If the money involved is set aside for photographic purposes it is well spent on the Elmarit-M. Â Don't forget: To be sure, you have to figure in the cost of a cleaning, etc with the collapsable lens so the price difference is not as great as if you were simply buying the collapsable lens in usable condition. Â Both are good lenses in many situations. The newer lens is optically better with 1 more stop of usable speed. Â Best Regards, Â Michael

I think I should pull the trigger and do the trade for the Elmarit.  Best regards
