Jeff S Posted May 3, 2013 Share #161 Posted May 3, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) ...my M8.2 with UV/IR filters is my favorite camera colour wise... Yep, and b/w wise, too (other than an MM, which I haven't yet tried.) The UV/IR filters do a better job than the M9 internal filtration. edit....And, it appears from this post that the M240 shares this aspect with the M9. lct Posted May 3, 2013 Share #162 Posted May 3, 2013 I'll check this on the M240 next week. I fear cyan shifts with wides though.
Thomas Chen Posted May 5, 2013 Share #163 Posted May 5, 2013 But white balance is not really the problem with the digital Leicas. Lack of colour integrity is. I sincerely wish Leica Camera would hire someone with some expertise in this field. Agree, especially for the "bold and brave' color of red and cyan. Nuance and subtlety are gone, based on my 2-hours shooting experience with M240 and a batch of DNG files by M240 taken at Boston that are kindly provided by Professor Steven Pinker. Thomas Chen Thomas, have you tried one of the dual illuminant profiles in the "M240 Colour" thread? I found they tamed the reds and cyans, made the blue range a touch bolder (not offensive) and displayed the same yellow over saturation the M9 did. Would be interested if you would try them and report into that thread?

Would be interested if you would try them and report into that thread? I'm interested to do so and I also know there are the dual illuminant profiles in the M240 color thread. However, I just acquired Photoshop CS6 with ACD 7.4 recently, not yet master how to import those profiles into ACR. Some instructions are needed. Thanks!
