and a B&W...!

Black, white and pink ... ?:rolleyes::D

For me your shot shows the D2's ability to resolve subtle shades of black and white right throughout the dynamic range. Very impressive for a camera with such a humble 5MP sensor.

Pete.

Few shots from a local festival (including gratuitous use of 1/4 shutter speed) plus a pic of a character who anyone in Japan should recognise instantly!

The D2 has 4 different picture quality settings: RAW - jpeg low compr - jpeg medium compression - jpeg high compression.

Since the camera came with a default 64Mb sd card, I don't think anyone would even want to store their images in both raw and jpeg format. It is not an option. (edit: I might be wrong actually seeing the reply above me ... just haven't found that option apparently...)

I myself don't even shoot raw on the D2, writing one image takes about 6 seconds.

I'm willing to be corrected here but aren't we drifting away from the thread again? There is another thread called "Digilux 2" Maybe some of these posts should be there? These are technical questions, rather than a discussion about the qualities of Digilux 2 images.

Quite right too. If you're going to benefit from the friendliness and warmth of the genteel folk at Leica forum, make sure you put your question in the right place or you will be shot down like a dog or an errant schoolchild:eek:

Well maybe not, but is nice to have discussion and pictures seperated.

I agree, there is already enough of a distinctive look form the jpeg files.

Question, can you speak of a distinctive look if you shoot raw, is it not the user that makes the look? If you shoot jpeg, the look is from the leica engineers and therefor distinctive for that camera?

A leica engineers jpeg, shot using my digilux 2 and a subject that is close to me (my daughter) ;

Guy I do not think many shoot RAW with the Digilux 2 as the jpegs are good enough anyway. I know I have only shot jpgs

I am one of the few and only switch to Jpeg only when shooting children or animals. I prefer the reserve of quality inherent in raw files.
