As my younger brother went to Hong Kong for his holiday I thought hard and I was thinking it probably Torsten wrote something about a black dot in Hong Kong for 40 something dollar.

Shop was called Fotopia? Yeah I think so...

Send a message to my brother and he was nearby. Bought me the black dot.

Turned out I was thinking in HKD and not in USD.

Quite a difference in price for just wanting to try something out, so it better be good!

It's already my most expensive unuseful mod ever for a camera. :D

Although I might get over the point that Leica lost the illumination window on the new M, I already have nightmares about the red dot. In my opinion it is as ugly as the M4-P's.

My photography improved big time once I installed a black dot onto my M9. Suddenly my unobtrusiveness helped me blend with the concrete. No one recognised me for the bore I am.

I still cherish a spare black dot at a secret hiding place, but as the dot-type-240 seems to be larger than the dot-type-M9, what can i do about it? please help and advise!

No, I am very happy with red dot. It tells my MM's from my M240's at a very quick glance.

I have no, zero, zilch problems shooting people with the red dot...

...at least no problems from 1 foot away. Maybe 2 or 3 inches may be an issue, but I don't want to crowd people.

Leica...leave the red dot ALONE!

Well, I got the black dot yesterday and apart from me not being sure if it really is an improvement design wise, The quality of the paintwork of that black dot is appalling. Some black paint that covers a part of the L underneath the 'a' and some black paint over the 'e'. Nothing I can't fix myself but still...

Not what one might expect for $40. Sounds like a rip off. When he has them in stock (not at present) David Llado at Leitax charges €8.

Not that it really matters, but the silver chrome M in mustafasoleiman's post #147 looks nice! That silver M badge looks like it could have come off the production line like that, quite a classy one.

The dot in mine is still red and I have currently zero interest in trying to do something about it.. I don't usually get to see it :)
