philipus Posted February 6, 2013 Share #1 Â Posted February 6, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I can't seem to find an answer to this. Â On some images I have seen, it looks as if the MP's shutter speed dial has an ever so slightly larger diameter than the dials on the M3 and M4. Is that the case or is it the exact same size as the older Ms?

250swb Posted February 6, 2013 Share #2 Â Posted February 6, 2013 Same size, eyeballing it I'd say about 17.5mm diameter. Â Steve

philipus Posted February 6, 2013 Author Share #4 Â Posted February 6, 2013 Thanks both for your quick replies. Â Is the MP's dial also located at the same distance from the front edge as on earlier Ms? Again, I can't find this specified anywhere.

250swb Posted February 6, 2013 Share #6 Â Posted February 6, 2013 It looks to me like the MP and M2 are both roughly 7mm from the front face of the top plate to the edge of the dial and 8.2mm from the rear face to the edge of the dial. Â Anticipating the next question they both sit 5mm tall above the top plate. Â Steve
earleygallery Posted February 6, 2013 Share #7 Â Posted February 6, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) AFAIK the only difference is the dials on the earlier cameras had the notch for the Leicameter - we also therefore know that they were all identical. Â As said, I don't see why (or even how?) Leica would change the position of the shutter dial given that the rest of the cameras design is essentially the same. xalo Posted February 6, 2013 Share #8 Â Posted February 6, 2013 To continue our joyful studies with the M3, the elder of the lineage, let me add that the distance from the dial's edge to the front edge of the top plate is 7mm, but 8mm to the edge of the frame around the rangefinder window. Remarkably, the left corner of the latter is aligned with the dial's axis. The dial's diameter seems to be 16mm, as for the MP. Cheers, Alexander
