Advertisement Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Hi chako, Take a look here MM+APO 50MM 2,0. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Rick Posted January 31, 2013 Share #2 Posted January 31, 2013 chako - Thanks for taking the time to post the photos. It looks like the portrait photographs of the pretty woman are showing front focusing errors. The OOF areas look nice. About the same as the Summilux FLE. The more pictures I see posted the less impressed I am of this lens. In reality it is just a Summilux 50mm FLE with slightly better chromatic aberration correction and slightly sharper corners with the disadvantage of being a stop slower. The 50 APO is the exact same design as the 50/1.4 except it has better anomalous glass. As much as I appreciate the amazing step forward I believe I'll cancel my order. Maybe if I was a landscape photographer I could appreciate the sharp corners or if I had the MM and couldn't correct chromatic aberration in LR as easily as it can be done with a bayer sensor I'd be more excited about this lens. Nice lens, though. Rick
lct Posted January 31, 2013 Share #3 Posted January 31, 2013 Is bokeh at f/2.8 - f/4 as contrasty as out of the 50/1.4 asph?
Ecar Posted January 31, 2013 Share #4 Posted January 31, 2013 Thanks for sharing, chako. Is it the light, the background or just me - or the bokeh looks particularly mushy with a sharp drop between in-focus and oof areas? Btw, don't want to start a whole debate here, I appreciate it's a matter of taste. Just asking other people's opinions...

philipus Posted February 1, 2013 Share #8 Posted February 1, 2013 Thanks for posting the images, chako. Mind putting full-size images on your Flickr though? Anything smaller than that makes it difficult to assess a lens (to the extent it is at all possible to do so with online JPGs). It would be esp. interesting to see this one, with the airplane, in full-size. I agree with Rick, though. The more images I see from this lens the less I understand why Leica created it. Perfectly fine photos have been taken with lenses that are not pinsharp in the corners. Still, I naturally encourage all who have this lens to put it to good use and convince me that I am wrong. farnz Posted February 1, 2013 Share #9 Posted February 1, 2013 Thanks for posting the pictures, Chako. Is that a touch of barrel distortion I see in the bottom right corner of the picture with the house and the fence or do people think that the fence is perhaps bowed? Just asking. Pete.
