jdlaing Posted January 27, 2013 Share #1 Â Posted January 27, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I happened to be close to BH Photo in Manhattan today and a pristine WATE just forced it's way into my hand. Â The Frankenfinder takes a little getting used to but all in all I am really going to like this lens. Upon reflection I wanted to go wide and this little beauty is getting three wides in one. Â I really really REALLY need to stay out of that store. Â Any WATE advice would be greatly appreciated.

k-hawinkler Posted January 27, 2013 Share #2 Â Posted January 27, 2013 It's a wonderful tool. It even works on a NEX-7 with no color cast, just don't upgrade the firmware.
Bill W Posted January 27, 2013 Share #3 Â Posted January 27, 2013 I really really REALLY need to stay out of that store. BH is such a unique place. It literally took me a couple of hours to just look around. Luckily I got out without increasing my credit card balance.
kcnarf Posted January 27, 2013 Share #4 Â Posted January 27, 2013 If you think you can afford buying a WATE, then you can't afford to wait around and be without. Â I mostly use it for up-close, very 3-dimensional photographic capture of individuals in a broad context of their participation at a well attended event, such as a political demonstration. Wonderful for vertically angled shots high & low. Or catch a close-up profile of a emotional speaker against an interesting portion of his audience. Etc. Wisely used, it imparts no excessive distortion but, rather, distorts perspective just enough to make imaginative viewers feel dramatically involved in the scene. Also great for weddings and other festive events!
