valerio Posted January 22, 2013 Share #1 Posted January 22, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello everyone, Yesterday I bought an M6, with the Summicron-M 50mm f/2, and I thought it would be a good idea to join this forum. I've been dreaming of owning a Leica M for many many years and finally the dream came true. I can honestly say it's the most well crafted (together with my Linhof 4x5) and best looking camera I have ever owned. Looking forward to getting to know you fellow members! Cheers, Valerio

farnz Posted January 22, 2013 Share #4 Posted January 22, 2013 Welcome, Valerio! If this is your first Leica then you've found an excellent source of expert information and stimulating discussion. If you have a question that's puzzling you then I'd recommend looking in the excellent Wiki (black tab at the top of the page) and the search function to see if it's been asked and answered before posting the question in the appropriate subforum. I look forward to your posting some pictures in the photo sub forums when you feel ready. Pete.
valerio Posted January 22, 2013 Author Share #5 Posted January 22, 2013 Hi Pete, Thank you very much for your suggestions. I will certainly post my shots as soon as I have some film developed and I deem them worthy to be published. This is actually my second Leica, the first one was an R4s, but deep inside I always craved for an M. Valerio

Peter H Posted January 23, 2013 Share #7 Posted January 23, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, and welcome! There's something special about your first M camera isn't there? If it feels right for you, it feels right in a way little else does.
valerio Posted January 23, 2013 Author Share #8 Posted January 23, 2013 Thanks Robert and Peter! There is indeed something special about an M camera. I know it sounds cheesy, but it makes me feel proud and special owning it. I know many photographers who would instantly label me as a snob, just because I have a Leica M, but I pity the fools! I already loaded my first roll of Tri-X (which I never used before, as strange as it may sound) and I'm waiting for the right moment to get some shots. I have to go back to film mentality and trip the shutter wisely, not to just about anything like when I'm using my D800... Anyways, hopefully I will have some decent shots available some time soon. Cheers, Valerio

tanglewood Posted January 29, 2013 Share #10 Posted January 29, 2013 Welcome from tanglewood in manchester uk-- enjoy your leica m-- I use a 1954 summicron on my m2 and m4-p - the collapsible version- very crisp. -- No one should " scoff " at leica - until you have owned or used one - there is no comparison. I must admit I'm already in love with my M6 and I will follow your suggestion and go on the docks for inspiration. Would be nice to meet for a coffee or pint at some point. Tanglewood Hi tanglewood, thanks! People who scoff at Leica either never used it or they're jealous... I met people who refer to it as the dentist's camera, because of its price tag. But, in my honest opinion, outstanding quality has its price! Cheers, Val
