thrid Posted January 22, 2013 Share #21 Posted January 22, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is it just me or do most of these pictures look overexposed? I wonder if they were all metered with the internal meter trying to turn everything to middle gray.
Advertisement Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Hi thrid, Take a look here new 'official' M240 pics up!. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guest WPalank Posted January 22, 2013 Share #22 Posted January 22, 2013 "...... however, I cannot play the sound where I am now, so there may be something on th evideo that I am missing. You speak only French?
Guest WPalank Posted January 22, 2013 Share #23 Posted January 22, 2013 Just got word from the powers to be (people running the Blog), these are images from the M240 only.
Guest WPalank Posted January 22, 2013 Share #24 Posted January 22, 2013 You guys are missing the Big Question all together. Is he shooting with that "Street Shooter Thingy" around his waist made by someone on the Forum and did it have to be modified for the M.
zlatkob Posted January 22, 2013 Share #25 Posted January 22, 2013 Just got word from the powers to be (people running the Blog), these are images from the M240 only. That is a surprise, as the EXIF indicates most of the photos were made with the M9.
edwardkaraa Posted January 22, 2013 Share #26 Posted January 22, 2013 They must all be from the typ 240. There is not even one shot that looks like the color I get from the M9.
The Gent. Posted January 22, 2013 Share #27 Posted January 22, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) To me they look more like the colors from a Canon DSLR... some magenta skin cast... with the need of a sensor clean...I can't see any Leica Look... Same here, there's something missing. They are still nice photos though but something is missing.
thrid Posted January 22, 2013 Share #28 Posted January 22, 2013 They must all be from the typ 240. There is not even one shot that looks like the color I get from the M9. They look really badly processed, if they were processed at all. Add to that the poor exposure and they aren't much to look at. Jean Gaumy is a great photographer, but he does not seem to be the most technically inclined. Leica should take more care, before releasing pictures like this. theboch Posted January 22, 2013 Share #29 Posted January 22, 2013 Someone in the comments section of the blog states that the pictures should have been taken in September 2012 which means an old firmware version - still hope for improvements. I think we need to wait until the new M gets into the hands of more people which will write about their experience and show results in public. theboch Posted January 22, 2013 Share #30 Posted January 22, 2013 I'm really attracted by the new M for the higher ISO capability and the foucs peaking feature - but only if the image "quality" or to better say the "look" of the images are in the same league as the M9. I know that it will not be the exact same look because of the new CMOS chip, but it would be nice if it would be as close as possible...
jaapv Posted January 22, 2013 Share #31 Posted January 22, 2013 Same here, there's something missing. They are still nice photos though but something is missing. Yes-there is something wrong with the blues and the reds. But it may be as simple as the red-Green Imbalance the M9 had initially, and just be a matter of proper profiles in raw conversion
Laica Posted January 22, 2013 Share #32 Posted January 22, 2013 The video on the homepage of Leica about the new Leica Geovid also features a photographer who's shooting with the new M.
barjohn Posted January 22, 2013 Share #33 Posted January 22, 2013 To me the colors seemed oversaturated and artificial looking. More like what one would see from a consumer P&S designed to wow the user with color. Detail seems to be missing and sharpness is not what I would have expected given no AA filter. JCharlton Posted January 22, 2013 Share #34 Posted January 22, 2013 That's it! I'm sticking with my M9 until it dies. Then I will go back to film! CDD or film; CMOS always looks like a P&S - artificial.
thighslapper Posted January 22, 2013 Share #35 Posted January 22, 2013 Another load of holiday snaps that basically tell you nothing. Full resolution DNG's please from a wide range of situations and subjects ..... The previous thread with the sailing photos descended into pointless nit-picking so I'm exiting this one before it gets me annoyed too.....
UliWer Posted January 22, 2013 Share #36 Posted January 22, 2013 ... Maybe it's a test to see if we are paying attention. Well, I think Mr. Gary Morris in the remark he gives in the blog paid attention: Look at the weather on the photos and compare it to the weather at the moment at Kirgistan. These photos ar at least 6 months old.
barjohn Posted January 22, 2013 Share #37 Posted January 22, 2013 That was mentioned in another post. The question is why would Leica promote photos taken 6 months ago when the camera had to be in beta or alpha?
darylgo Posted January 22, 2013 Share #38 Posted January 22, 2013 Full resolution DNG's please from a wide range of situations and subjects ..... Added to that: DNG's from the M9 shot side by side with the new M. My amateur eyes tell me these samples were attempting to show good dynamic range at the cost of poor contrast. The highlights are not blown out (wedding dress) and the shadows have plenty of detail. I don't believe flash fill was used. I would love to see dynamic range extended even if there is a slight loss elsewhere, I could always decrease range and increase contrast in post.
