Advertisement Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 Hi elansprint72, Take a look here The victors...... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jmr Posted March 23, 2007 Share #2 Posted March 23, 2007 Pete, nice timing. The square format works very well too.
stuny Posted March 23, 2007 Share #3 Posted March 23, 2007 Pete - Well balanced, excellent timing, tones and details, plus an implied speed (though low) by the selective focus and the DHL logo.
hsw Posted March 23, 2007 Share #4 Posted March 23, 2007 Great catch. Any more from this series? Henry
elansprint72 Posted March 23, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted March 23, 2007 Thanks guys, Henry, yes I have literally thousands more of these. I posted this one for the perverse reason that I think that I just missed the money shot, yet 90% of the audience would think it's OK. Photo-Eds are becoming an increasingly tough crowd and would reject this shot because the second rider is obscured. 1/50th second earlier and it would be a winner. I don't remember the exact circumstances but for these races rising stars were paired with past-masters, the little Italian bloke at the front clearly has put on weight since his better days; he's probably running a bar back in his village now, with photos of when he was a "name". Good luck to him.
rob_x2004 Posted March 23, 2007 Share #6 Posted March 23, 2007 If I was a photo editor I would reject the shot till the young guy turns down his bars...Does he want to look good in frame or ride straight in the sling? Nice stuff. Just a bit of separation though. Great to have a facility like this in your own back yard.
MrEd Posted March 24, 2007 Share #7 Posted March 24, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Pete, I like this one. The different spokes on the two bikes makes it "separate but equal";) Great shot. Thanks for sharing. Ed. .
elansprint72 Posted March 24, 2007 Author Share #8 Posted March 24, 2007 Thanks Ed & Rob; yeah I can't get used to the look of those modern rising bar stems either. Mine used to be made of steel and slope downwards. It is "useful" having one of the world's fastest tracks just 30 minutes away.
rob_x2004 Posted March 24, 2007 Share #9 Posted March 24, 2007 Yea, and the curved bars lock your hands in and the tape doesnt get rolled off. I had a mate used to clip the ends of his road bars. Only went for a couple of rides on it and each time I would only just catch the ends when I dropped off the hoods. Nuisance.
