DigitalHeMan Posted December 28, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted December 28, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Have just started with Leica and have been wandering around over the past week with the 35mm Summarit on the M6, and having a lot of fun However, one thing that I have noted is that the lens hood on the Summarit tends to work itself lose, especially when I wear the camera under my coat. Â Since I would hate to lose it, does anyone have any suggestions on keeping it on the lens and not turning? Two ways I thought of would be to put an elastic band over the join (ugly) or use some black electricians or gaffa tape (would look a lot better, but might leave sediment on the lens). michali Posted December 28, 2012 Share #3  Posted December 28, 2012 I had the same problem and opted for a cheaper and simpler solution: $10.95 New Metal Wide Angle 39mm Screw in Lens Hood Cap E39 | eBay  I've replaced most of my Leica lens hoods with the Heavystar screw in metal hoods- which are well made. MarkP Posted December 28, 2012 Share #4 Â Posted December 28, 2012 Mine sits quite firmly, but not quite as tightly as the identically designed hoods on my 21 Summilux, 21 SEM, or 35 Summilux FLE. Â The lens was bought privately second hand, so I probably can't take it into a dealer, although the guy I bought it from is sending me the box and warranty card this week (he couldn't find it when I made the purchase) and I might be lucky and have a few months left... Or if you are planning to leave the hood on the lens most of the time, you could try removable threadlock glue. Its color is usually blue and it comes in different strenghts. Â A bit of black tape sounds like a good solution if you don't plan on removing the hood very often. Alternatively, have you considered dispensing with the hood altogether? Tightens it up enough to stop it rotating and is not visible on the outside. Also, as it's none sticky it won't leave a residue when I take it off  Available from most DIY stores. Â I definitely could remove the hood, as this would certainly help with the viewfinder blocking the lens causes as well, but I do like to use the hood as a form of protection - especially in a street environment things to tend to get knocked, and as I am wearing the camera most of the time over my shoulder rather than carrying it in a bag, I would rather be safe than sorry... Think I have some of that at home somewhere..... Â That's the stuff, usually white in colour. I've found it works well with all of the hoods that fit on to an external thread on the lens.
