Advertisement Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 Hi kcnarf, Take a look here M-240 "Seeking Light". I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lamefrog Posted December 19, 2012 Share #2 Posted December 19, 2012 I assume the op is referring to this
Guest borge Posted December 19, 2012 Share #3 Posted December 19, 2012 I don't see anything related to the Monochrom there? Or wasn't that the point of the OP's post?
jaapv Posted December 19, 2012 Share #4 Posted December 19, 2012 It is the M240, and the first decent test images I've seen. On the small web jpgs they look rather similar to M9 images, albeit a bit flatter, but that may be the postprocessing.

bybrett Posted December 19, 2012 Share #6 Posted December 19, 2012 I see the integral dust removal processing firmware isn't working very well.

bybrett Posted December 19, 2012 Share #8 Posted December 19, 2012 Dr. Ulrich Rohde is talking freely on dpreview about his experiences with M240, he says that 25 units have just been shipped out to photographers for testing. kcnarf Posted December 20, 2012 Author Share #9 Posted December 20, 2012 Whoops! I meant to title this thread as "M-240 Seeking Light" but was thinking at the same time about my pending purchase of the Monochrom. Sorry for having inadvertently misled you all. mjh Posted December 20, 2012 Share #10 Posted December 20, 2012 Dr. Ulrich Rohde is talking freely on dpreview about his experiences with M240, he says that 25 units have just been shipped out to photographers for testing. That’s the beta test I have been referring to in previous posts.
johnbuckley Posted December 20, 2012 Share #11 Posted December 20, 2012 In his second review of the Monochrom, Sean Reid allows that he is currently testing another camera, which one guesses is the M. Question: who is Dr. Rohde, why does he have the M, and why is he able to release photos into the wild? Aren't there ninjas from Solms ready to swoop down and cut off his... broadband connection? gjames9142 Posted December 20, 2012 Share #12 Posted December 20, 2012 Dr Rhode seems to be a nice guy who takes holiday snaps.
lucan Posted December 20, 2012 Share #13 Posted December 20, 2012 I found this web site below which has few Leica type 240 images, they seems to be just snapshots. http://seekinglight.net/1442/the-new-leica-m-type-240/ I guess I have to wait for a side by side comparison with an M9
chris_tribble Posted December 20, 2012 Share #14 Posted December 20, 2012 Dr Rhode seems to be a nice guy who takes holiday snaps. Lucky guy certainly! I don't like to be bitchy, but it does seem a bit odd to give the prototype to someone who can't clean the sensor (or take arresting images ) Good to know that it's out in the wild though... colonel Posted December 20, 2012 Share #15 Posted December 20, 2012 I assume the op is referring to this Not to barrack but those images are terrible, and could be so for many reasons I'll wait a bit longer to assess the M240
firstlight Posted December 20, 2012 Share #16 Posted December 20, 2012 The pictures do not say really anything about the performance (small size). But as far as I can see the image processing by the new processor is not that bad Can also come from an M8...M9...M-E, no
Keith (M) Posted December 20, 2012 Share #17 Posted December 20, 2012 Is it not somewhat late in the day to handing out 25 units to beta-testers when shipping of the finished product is supposed to be quite imminent (if the expectations of some dealers are to be met)? Makes it look more likely that it will be towards the end of Q1 2013 before product hits the shops.
