MarkP Posted December 15, 2012 Share #1 Posted December 15, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have only just found a thin slot/pouch stitched into the inside back of the IIIc's leather half-case. It contains a thin flat steel plate. Does anyone know what this plate is for?

MarkP Posted December 15, 2012 Author Share #3 Posted December 15, 2012 To protect the LCD screen? Very funny Then would not Kevlar have been a better choice?
earleygallery Posted December 15, 2012 Share #4 Posted December 15, 2012 There is a space for putting items such as the film carton (as a reminder) or maybe notes. The plate is there to stiffen the case.
gyoung Posted December 15, 2012 Share #5 Posted December 15, 2012 My case is similar, and has an original exposure guide in the slot Gerry
MarkP Posted December 15, 2012 Author Share #6 Posted December 15, 2012 Yes, I have one as well, forgot to mention that. It still seems a bit strange using a steel plate for case rigidity.
earleygallery Posted December 15, 2012 Share #7 Posted December 15, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) The plate in my lllf case is more like stiff plastic/board. I guess it depended upon available materials at the time.
jc_braconi Posted December 15, 2012 Share #8 Posted December 15, 2012 There is a space for putting items such as the film carton (as a reminder) or maybe notes. The plate is there to stiffen the case. in fact to make it rigid as possible when you press on when you close and when you pull off for open the clip button of the top cover of the ERC. MarkP Posted December 16, 2012 Author Share #9 Posted December 16, 2012 Thanks, makes sense. Interestingly there are three slots separated by very thin leather. So there is extra space for exposure guides, notes, etc.
