Another shot, early Monday morning in Santa Monica while Barbara worked out. You can see the first one in the People section, titled, “Bladin’ By the Beach”. By tomorrow (22nd March) I’ll add this and others to a new Los Angeles page on our site.

Stuart,

What interesting and complex geometry you've captured here. So many overlapping and intersecting lines and forms, with great use of foreground and background subjects. The stillness of the rings is particularly nice.

Stuart,

what a creative idea. I like it, it works well.

I'd possibly just crop a bit less of the bottom maybe?

Tim

Agreed, but I'd chop it the other way! Remove the car from the right and the ship's bridge-thing from the left?

It feels like you could reach out and touch those rings.

Tim & Pete -

Thank you. Excellent ideas and I did a quick and dirty crop of the above processed image (see below). I'll have to do it properly at home tonight. Tim's suggestion for the bottom crop make the rings seem to hang from the ionosphere, which I like. Pete's suggestion to crop from the left and right simplify the image, which I also like. I've started a Los Angeles page on our site and will replace the version above with the cropped version.

Stuart,

Another very nice image. I too like the vertical lines crossing with the pier.

I am not sure about cropping this image. I like the white car but the edge of the ring is a little distracting. You cant have it all though I guess!

Nice to see the beach empty. You give a very different mood to the place.

Ed - Thank you. Strangely, I liked the partial ring. It was so empty since it was chilly, overcast (typical at the beach in Sta. Monica before 11:00 AM), before 8:00 AM and on a workday.

Ivan - Thank you.
